I saw pie-pumpkins at the grocery store for the first time yesterday.

Never seen them in this city before; used to be that you could only get the big kind used for carving and decorations, the sort that isn't good for eating.

Making pie is not in my plans, but... not going to lie, I'm kind of tempted to get one to use for soup. :9

It just makes me very happy that it's possible to do that, rather than looking through pumpkin-related recipes and being like "Where the hell would I get one of those?!"

Note: You can always use butternut in any recipe that calls for a pie or cooking pumpkin.

Oh, interesting! I had no idea. They do taste pretty similar, now that I think of it. :D

In fact, iirc, most canned packed pumpkin is butternut!

Pumpkin!! 😍️ I'm always so happy when pumpkin season rolls around. Glad you can get some now! Curried pumpkin soup (or, failing pumpkin, squash of some sort/zucchini/carrot works too) is one of my faves :9
