yuuagoI ordered some of the Magnus Archives pins that Rusty Quill released a while back, and they arrived today! Wonderful!
Picked out the Spiral* (of course) and the Eye*. There were others I liked a lot too, but... well, you know. One must be selective. ;V
The pictures don't do Spiral's colour-shifting justice. The enamel is green at the edges, shifts to blue, then purple toward the centre. Very cool. As for the Eye, it isn't as bright as Spiral, sure, but it's still very striking - the colour choices really make the eye on it pop. (...Questionable word choice there, but I'm going to keep it. ;p )
When I put in the order, though, I didn't realize how big these fuckers are! And they're hefty metal, the kind of pin that requires two backs to keep it in place. You could put somebody's eye out with one of these things if you threw it with good aim.
I actually whipped out a ruler to measure them, then took a photo with them next to some of my other pins, can badges, and a few coins for comparison:
Top row:
Hetalia fan-made can badge, 35mm wide, more-or-less standard can badge size
Loonie, ~26mm wide
Canadian quarter, ~23mm wide
Moomin mini can badge, ~24mm wide
Pride flag pins by The Pin Prick*, 20 mm wide
Bottom row:
The Spiral: ~32mm wide x 40mm high
The Eye: 32mm wide (ish) x 27 mm high (ish)
Pink triangle by AbandonedWarehouse*: 31mm high
So. Definitely bigger than anything else I have, and the weight contributes to the Largeness. But I love my new pins nonetheless.
Anyway! Really happy to finally have these. I've a feeling that they will definitely have to live on one of my messenger bags rather than my denim jacket, though. ;p
