I was told recently that one of the parks staff in my area "had an encounter with an unyielding cougar." which I thought was marvellously understated.

As opposed to what, a yielding cougar? Nice turn of phrase there, definitely.

Cougars are generally supposed to see a human and take off. Preferably before you fire three bear bangers at it and mace it in the face.

Yeah, I know what they're trying to convey, it just struck me as a funny way of putting it. Like a normal, shy cougar is a traditional bodice ripper heroine.

Hopefully! Usually there aren't many issues - warnings that there are bears in the woods is typical, but this is new, so hopefully it's something they can take care of quickly.
