MAG 157-158
May. 1st, 2021 10:30 pmContinuing to snail my way through TMA!
MAG 157 - Ah, so here's where we find out about Melanie/Georgie. I was wondering when we'd get to that.
Anyway. I liked this statement quite a bit - Dekker is one of those characters that I don't think about much, but I do enjoy it when he shows up. His relationship with Gertrude is some interesting stuff.
Not going to lie, though, kind of had a "...." moment when I realized the premise of the episode, then checked the date it was made. Wow. Who could've predicted how things would have gone, eh?
Jon running around at the end... man, I've been there. (In the "needing to get a second opinion and not being able to get hold of anyone" sense, I mean). Also... WELL I guess this answers something I was wondering a while back, namely, "Is it possible for the Archivist to compel the Distortion?" (Answer: he can try, but it would be a very bad idea.)
I never considered Jon getting menaced by Helen, but I sure am considering it now, so uh there is that.
MAG 158 - WELL THIS WAS A LOT. Uh.
I'd already been spoiled long ago for Elias = Jonah Magnus (by Ao3 tags, ugh) so the impact wasn't as effective as it might otherwise been, but still. This episode was... a lot...
Honestly, my favourite bit was Basira and Daisy - that conversation they had before Daisy faced down Trevor and Julia, that whole "I never thought it would end like this - actually yeah I kind of did" and "After this is over, find me and kill me" and so on. That was some Good Stuff. I'll take 500 of whatever the hell that is.
Re: Jon bravely going into the Lonely to get Martin back. I feel kind of weird! Like, "This is not my pairing, but I appreciate the drama on general principle" I guess you could say. That is some Good Drama right there.
