MAG 151-154
Apr. 27th, 2021 09:41 pmBrief thoughts on MAG 151-154
151: The Big Picture - WELL I was so-so on Simon Fairchild before, but now I love him. He's so weirdly charming! I love his "big picture" perspective, haa. And that "whatever happens will happen" attitude. Definitely someone who's been around for a while, and is interested in seeing where things go, but isn't particularly fussed about everything ending either. And his excitement about space travel!
And now this fanart of his attempted deep sea ritutal is in context for me. Hooray.
Also I love his voice, that was a Good Choice with that voice actor.
(...Also I kind of ship him with Peter. Just. Like. They seem to know each other relatively well? The way Simon talked about him just kind of worked for me. And Vast and Lonely seem like such a natural match.)
152: A Gravedigger's Envy - I normally don't have a lot of thoughts on the Buried; it isn't one of those concepts that I love, or one that freaks me out. But I must say, when Hezekiah was describing the way it feels to curl up inside the fresh grave and sleep... it actually sounded really nice? Very peaceful. At least before things got, uh, weird and murder-y. It might just be that I've been very tired lately and want a good night's sleep. ;V
That said, I loved Jon's conversation with Helen after that. Partly because it's Helen (Jon, I know you need somebody to talk to, but is that really a good idea?) but also the general back-and-forth about what it means to be an avatar and how much control you have over yourself etc. It was interesting.
153: Love Bombing - No thoughts on the statement, aside from that if it were a novel, I would read it.
Those hunters showing up at the end sure was unexpected. And Daisy! *_* Loved seeing her chase them off. She seems in bad shape though, hope she'll be okay.
154: Bloody Mary - OH BOY.
I like Eric. He comes off as convincingly someone who would've been Gerry's dad. He seems very... I don't know, he just seems very nice? Likeable. JFC though dude, you picked one hell of a woman to marry. What a mess.
But now all of the references I was seeing to people blinding themselves make sense! I GUESS. (Good gods.)
I'm not into Jon/Martin, but I will admit, that whole "Let's gouge out our eyes and run away together" thing was pretty intense. Very... intimate. In a very specific sort of way.

(I don't do TMA but I've been reading your posts about it, so I know things get pretty crazy, but wow that bit really sticks out to me. :P)

Agreed, but that last part is an important addition ^^
I liked Eric too. And he asks Gertrude to make sure that Gerry is alright - weell, she helped eventually, but she could have done more sooner, and she definitely could have not bound him into that same book!! Gertrude whyy.

Indeed xD
