The northern lights woke me up last night.

It was around one in the morning, and there was this weird brightness through the blinds. Turns out, that's what it was.

I've never been able to see them quite like this. My apartment is very high up, so it was a good view - a wide band of colour dancing over the Athabasca river. Red and green.

I don't really mind the interrupted sleep.

Oh, that sounds spectacular! I'm glad it woke you up so you could see it!

I got to see the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn yesterday evening, just after sunset, a day late (it was alternately pouring and snowing on the day of their closest conjunction), which was also pretty cool!
