There are a whole bunch of old Soviet animated fairytale films up on Youtube. I was making a to-watch list for myself, and thought I ought to share them!

The Scarlet Flower (1952)

The Frog Princess/Vasilisa The Beautiful (1954)

The Frog Princess/Vasilisa The Beautiful (1977)

The Wild Swans (1962)

The Snow Queen (1957)

The Little Mermaid (1968)

The only ones I've seen so far are The Snow Queen and The Little Mermaid. Both of them were so lovely! There's something about the animation style they use that's just so charming - Little Mermaid especially has a very unique look to it.

Have any of you seen some of these? Are there any others that I should add to the list? :)

Ooh, nice - I haven't seen any of these before, but I see what you mean about the animation style.

They're not that old, but you might also enjoy the painted glass animations of Aleksandr Petrov (Rusalka, The Old Man and the Sea).

Three Wishes for Cinderella! It's live action, but really cute and the music's lovely.
