I was looking through some stuff about NorthWord, the local literary magazine. It turns out that they're currently accepting submissions (due date is May 20). Current theme is "Solstice". You know what, I think I might give it a try.
The last time I tried to submit something to a literary magazine, it was rejected, and I was kind of bummed out. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't try again.
Their next issue is going to be launched on April 03, and there's going to be a reading/open mic on that night. I... think I'm going to try to go! Why the hell not. The only issue is that it's going to be on a worknight, and it's going to be kind of a rush to get from work to home and then to the location, but it's definitely doable.
I think what I'm going to try to do is write something before the launch. Or at least get something started. It'll be easier to convince myself to go if I technically have something in the works related to the magazine, I think.
Fort Mac doesn't have much of an arts scene. But that just means that I should keep tabs on what little there is, and whenever I see something interesting, I should pursue it! Or at least put serious thought into doing so.

Date: 2020-03-09 07:21 pm (UTC)Bro! Going to the open night's awesome! Even if you don't do anything with the open mike, just going and listening's pretty cool too.
Good luck with whatever you do!
