Today was the second and third reading of the municipality's conversion therapy ban bylaw.

It passed!*

Conversion therapy is now prohibited in Fort McMurray and the surrounding area. :D

Pride YMM put out a press release about it. I'm glad they took the initiative by bringing this up with council last year.

That's great! Sad that it isn't prohibited on a national level and has to be done locally, but better than nothing. Same is true here. It's illegal in California and a few other states and counties/cities, but not nationally.

Yeah, it really sucks that it's not on a national level. Or even a provincial level here. But I have hope that it'll be covered federally at some point, especially if local regions continue to step up. :D
