yuuagoOh man, nêhiyawak has put up a preview for their new release*. I've been waiting for them to put out a full album for a while, and it's finally coming!
They're an indigenous music group from amiskwaciy/Edmonton, and I've been following their work for about a year or so. Genre-wise, I'm not quite sure how to categorize them - they're a bit post-rock, a bit dreampop, a bit surreal. Regardless, I find that they have a very recognizable, unique sound. The first time I heard some of their work, I liked it instantly.
nêhiyawak's new album, nipiy, is coming out on October 24th. It has the songs that were previously on their self-titled EP; I'm especially glad they included "tommaso", which I love. I was lucky enough to hear "ôtênaw" on the radio today, which was a pleasant surprise because as far as I know the official annoucement only went out on Monday. A lot of the other songs from nipiy are up on youtube if you want to check them out. Here are a few -

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this. :D I even preordered it. Can hardly wait until it's released so I'll be able to give it a really good listen.
