Every so often, I go looking for Norway/Germany fanwork. Man, is the state of things ever dire. I know that it isn't a popular pairing at all, but even so, there's hardly any fanwork out there, and a lot of it is stuff I've written myself.

At times like this, I'm immensely grateful for Wald - I'm incredibly happy that she was willing to pick up our roleplay thread again when I asked a while back. It's progressing slowly but surely, and I love the dynamic between our characters. She's really the best Germany I've ever played with. (I mean, not that I've played with many, but. Wald's Germany is a very good Germany.)

I finished a draft of something a few months ago, and I just typed it up today. Works out to 10k; might end up a little bit longer after edits. It's in the same storyline as "Matters of Attraction"; not necessarily a direct sequel, but set a few years later. General premise is that they've kind of developed ~feelings~ for each other, even if that wasn't the original intention, and they're trying to figure out what to do about it.

There's something about putting these two together that I just find so fun. I guess it's because, considering their personalities, they'd be a bit awkward at first - even if there is mutual attraction there, there'd be some minor headbutting and conflict of confidence/competence until they figure out what they want, and how to get it from each other.

So far, most of my fics with them have been from Germany's POV. It might be nice to write Norway's POV of it at some point. Especially if it's the kind of scenario where it's like... he's very attracted to Germany, but he isn't sure what he wants to do about that, if anything. So, things are kind of awkward between them, and it's clear that Germany has no idea why (perhaps he even thinks that Norway dislikes him, because Norway is the sort that can be very difficult to read.) And this keeps going until Norway makes up his mind.

It's the kind of pairing where - it'd be a bit of a bumpy ride at first, but after they get all the prickly details figured out, I think they would be very, very cozy together. The sort of pairing that could be summed up as: cake, good sex, quiet moments together, and hiking in the wilderness (not necessarily in this order).
