Finished reading: Mouthful of Birds by Samanta Schweblin. Magical realism with a dash of horror. Short stories. Quick, breezy, and a little bit creepy and surreal. A fun read!

Also finished: The Frangipani Tree Mystery by Ovidia Yu. This one was REALLY GOOD, I couldn't put it down, and devoured it over the span of a couple of days. Set in Singapore in 1936; an educated local girl with aspirations to become a journalist ends up investigating a mysterious death. It has great sense of place/period, and I really like Su Lin, the protagonist. If you like mystery novels or historical fiction, this is definitely one to try.

Reading next: Queen of Attolia is on hold for me at the library, and I'll be picking it up on the weekend. :D Not sure what I'll be reading in the meantime - going to have to dig through my room to find something suitable.

Did not finish: The Story of Art by E. H. Gombrich. This book was first published in 1950, and it shows. The edition I'm reading is much more recent than that, but... anyway. I could only get about 30 pages in (out of 500) before I got annoyed. If any of you have read this one and thought a particular section of it was worth taking a look at, please let me know, because I'm curious. Anyway, I think I'll go looking for a more recent book on art history. Recommendations welcome!

The Frangipani Tree Mystery sounds right up my alley. Putting it on my TBR list!
