More adventures with learning Norwegian

I was so bored at work today that I ended up studying Norwegian grammar just to fill the time.

All this has reminded me that it's really something that I should give more attention. There are a lot of things that I should know by now, but it just doesn't seem to stick. And I rarely remember the, hmm, terms for anything grammar-related, even if it's something I know how to do.

I got the idea to poke through some grammar stuff when I across a discussion of double definites, wasn't sure what it meant, then looked it up and had an "Oh, I know what that is, I've seen it before" moment. There's an explanation here (down the page) but basically it's that thing where... When referring to something in the definite - if there's an adjective in front of the noun, it always needs det/den in front of the adjective, along with the relevant definite modification to the noun, otherwise it's ungrammatical.
Like so:
Det røde huset
Den store katten

It's such a simple thing, and one would think I'd remember it every time, but. WELL. You know. There are a lot of simple things that just don't stick in my head at all. But maybe after poking at things enough, something will happen.

I really should go through this book methodically, cover to cover; there are a lot of things in it that I haven't looked at in detail, and some things not at all. Something to work on/make note of, I guess. Along with a million other things.
