It was -50C this morning. I think that calls for some warm music, don't you? A little too tired to do a detailed entry, but here's a quick rec for something I've been enjoying for a while.

Kobo Town is a Caribbean-Canadian music group. Their vocalist/songwriter, Drew Gonsalves, is originally from Trinidad, and a lot of his inspiration comes from his experience living there, as well as missing the island after he moved to Canada.

Check out their work if you like a groovy calypso sound. It's great stuff. I'm so glad that CKUA plays their music occasionally; they have a really unique sound.

You can find their 2017 album, Where the Galleon Sank, on Bandcamp here. They won a Juno and a CFMA award for it, very well-deserved.

Their official youtube doesn't have a lot uploaded, but what they do have is a pretty good example of what's on this album. London Town is one of my favourites. Another good one is Scarborough Girl, featuring the very accomplished calypsonian Calypso Rose*, whose work I'm definitely going to have to check out some time in the future.
