yuuago☆ [NiF Ex] Wow, works have been revealed for the Nirvana in Fire exchange... 52 pieces in the collection! I'm amazed. It's going to take me ages to get through everything, and I'm delighted about that. Go take a look if that fandom strikes your fancy. As for me, I received a lovely fanart of Mei Changsu and Fei Liu! Voila. <3 <3 <3
☆ [Resolutions] I haven't put together my reading challenge list yet, but I think it'll be the same as last year - 50 books; 10 nonfiction, 10 poetry, 10 FNMI, 10 CanLit, 10 world prose fiction. And last year I had a goal of "at least 10 of these have to be books I already own", and that worked out pretty well, so... let's bump that up to 20 and see what happens! Maybe I'll finally get around to reading With Fire and Sword, that'd sure be a thing. And I could've sworn that I had an edition of Van Gogh's letters kicking around somewhere; that would be really interesting.
☆ [Knitting] Holy shit you guys, that Latvian cowl pattern was an A++ decision. Good going, me. This thing is so fun to knit; I'm delighted. It's been a while since I did anything with colourwork, and I guess I missed it. And Cascade 220 was a good yarn choice for this one, I think. The colours, though... I mean, the deep brown and burnt orange does look nice, but it also looks kind of retro; it reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen carpet, haha. Well, that's not necessarily a bad thing. ;)

Date: 2019-01-02 03:00 am (UTC)I didn't know what FNMI meant, but now I'm more acronym knowledgeable! I like how you set goals for the specific type of book - I'm quite lazy about it. I just look at what my library is getting new. I end up reading mostly non-fiction that way, though, since it's easier to judge those by title.
I looked up the Latvian cowl photo from the other post - it looks so cool! I love Latvian patterns. I hope you post a pic when you're done - I wanna see how retro it looks!

Date: 2019-01-02 12:52 pm (UTC)I think choosing broad categories like this helps me read more of stuff that I do enjoy but wouldn't necessarily think to read if I was just browsing. Like, I really like poetry, but it isn't necessarily what I'd think to look for first. So, making a goal to seek it out is helpful. There are a lot of "yearly reading checklists" out there, but while I like the idea, I find they tend to be very... specific? ("Read a book with x word in the title", "read a book about such-and-such location" etc).
I'll definitely see about getting a photo of the knitting when it's done! :D
