Three things + books
Sep. 12th, 2018 08:04 pm☆ IT SNOWED THIS MORNING. I am unimpressed. I want to wrap myself in a blanket and stay in bed until May.
☆ I love it when people send me letters - because I have a really swank letter opener, and I love getting a chance to use it. ;) Received some mail today~ <3 Kiraly and Elleth sent it to me when they were in Copenhagen. How lovely. Wish I could've been there with them instead, but...! This is also nice.
☆ Only discovered today that I'm able to export to PDF from Word. Two things: 1. How did it take me so long to figure this out? and 2. This is GREAT, because I'll be able to make a PDF copy of Sixth Day, which I've been meaning to re-read. Even if the full version isn't up on Ao3, meaning I can't use the fancy epub export, I can at least get it in a format that my e-reader will handle. Wonderful.
☆ Reading: Making my way through Eric Dupont's Songs for the Cold of Heart (Original title: La Fiancée américaine). It's a long, farcical drama, I guess one could say. The blurb on the cover compares his work to Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and yeah, I guess I can see that, as this book reminds me of everything I loved about One Hundred Years of Solitude and everything I disliked about Love in the Time of Cholera, if you know what I mean. I might need to check out this guy's other work.
☆ I have two books out that I won't be able to read before leaving for vacation, ah... Well, library dropbox it is, then. I'll have to re-check them later. :) They are:
+Cold Skies by Thomas King - his work is always good, so I'm really looking forward to this one, whenever I get around to reading it.
+Flights by Olga Tokarczuk - I'm not sure what this novel is actually about, but the summary on the flap sounded interesting - it's the same as the Goodreads description. And I've been meaning to look into reading more works by Eastern European authors, so...!
