Oh boy.

Seeing hate dumped on people who like certain pairings just makes me want to make fanwork of those pairings.

I don't even like Norway/Iceland that much, but when people get in an aggressive froth about it, you better believe I get the overwhelming desire to write it.

Problem is, I don't currently have any ideas. And I have some other things that require priority. But maybe I'll think of something.

I just... jfc dude, they're:

-personified countries
-immortal
-old as balls
-IT'S FICTION

And that's all I have to say about that.

Maybe once I finish the exchange fic and such that I'm currently working on, I'll poke through the desiccated remnants of the Hetalia kink meme to see if I can shake some ideas loose.

My own Hetalia-related ideas have been turning in some rather grim directions, mostly because I am feeling the need to write something where America and Canada, over in France for a World War I Centennial ceremony, meet up at Plot E in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery -- the resting place of America's dishonourable dead, soldiers executed for rape and murder during World War II. I'm not even sure what the fic would entail, except a lot of frustration seeking an outlet for expression...but then again, that's my general feeling about current events these days, so perhaps it's not so inappropriate.

WELL... nothing to be intrigued by, really - it's just the old wank of "ew, it's incest" and "ew, Iceland is underage" and "how dare you ship this, you horrible immoral person", plus also excluding people who ship it from communities/discords/events. And so on. Which... well, my feelings on the matter are above. ;) I'm not even much of a fan of the pairing! But seeing people act that way really grates my cheese, and I end up being like "fuck that, I'll write it". As well as... there's this feeling of wanting to write something nice for people who actually are fans of it, so they have something positive from the fandom, since they get so much shit from these assholes. Or something like that.

I never understood the 'hdu ship incest' thing with Hetalia, because usual 'it's fiction' objections aside, they're not human, and anyway some of the sibling pairs are really only as incestuous as you write them. Ship wars are just going to be ship wars I guess.

When my favorite Hetalia ships got hate, it was usually for supposedly being historically Problematic in some way, which... it's not the most serious canon and it's still fiction and they're still fictional characters with a ton of history together, let them be.

Anyway, I definitely get the impulse to spite the haters even when it's not entirely your thing - good luck if you decide to write anything.

Haa, thanks. <3 Writing pairings that I don't feel strongly about tends to be really fun in the sense of it being, hmm, an interesting challenge - so I might very well end up doing that.
