Jul. 17th, 2018 06:12 amNote to self: Consider writing that Nor/Den thing with the bootlicking.
-Am I going to need to research history of footwear? (Argh, maybe.) Ambiguously modern setting would make it easier to write something with this, but ngl something set a few centuries back would also be interesting. There's something fun about grounding it in a certain time/place, especially considering the dynamic that would be present if set during their union.
-Indoor-only shoes? Makes sense for historical setting (I think, gonna have to check some things) but not as much for modern, since neither of them would wear shoes inside the house. Or...
-Set aside the "ugh you don't know where those have BEEN" squick long enough to incorporate it into the text as a feature rather than a bug. Emphasis on soil/earth rather than whatever else might be on there.
-Or... maybe blood? On the one hand, SO, SO GROSS. On the other hand: there's something weirdly appealing about post-battle Norway/Denmark, with Denmark licking the blood of their enemies off Norway's boots as a prelude to some really enthusiastic sex. Hm. [/throws hands in the air] I dunno.
-WELL, they're neither human nor mortal, it's not like they'd catch anything from it anyway.
