[DWGL] 11 - Thoughts/commentary
Jul. 8th, 2018 08:47 pmSo! Episode 11 of Di Wang Gong Lüe is available thanks to subtitle-anon: here.
Ahhh so we're treated to another nighttime appearance from Duan Baiyue. :D I am, of course, quite pleased.
"Could it be that you were waiting for me?"
You flirt, of course he was! Considering everything, Chu Yuan likely knew to expect him. ;)
Hmmm, 25 inhabitants of the building, but 26 corpses... Quite a mystery. I certainly appreciate Chu Yuan's reaction to the information that there is little/no investigation into the identities - his compassion for people is wonderful.
The scene where they're sharing a meal together is so... delightfully domestic. I'm just so charmed/amused by Duan Baiyue getting fussy over food, adding all those seasonings, serving Chu Yuan... It's cute. :') The way he kept gently nudging him to eat something, there was just something about his tone of voice that was very - sweet, I guess is how I'd best describe it.
I love the little ways that they take care of each other. Like, we go into this knowing that they are close, but I appreciate that it's taking up the time to build their relationship and actually show the various ways that this closeness manifests. The grand expressions of loyalty, yes, but also little things.
Anyway. That moment when they're going to investigate the corpses, and Duan Baiyue disposes of the guards -
"What did you do with them?"
"I killed them."
askdfjdkfk DUDE you can't just go teasing quite like that, Chu Yuan looked as if he was going to have a heart attack. xD
I must say, I'm gradually finding it more difficult to believe that the emperor can just go running around investigating arson like some kind of ancient Chinese Sherlock Holmes, but - Ah, well. It's fantasy! [/jazz hands]
From the look of it, the next episode will involve Yao-er and his spectacular skills at figuring out fiddly traps/locks/mechanisms. Excellent. :D For now, all I can do is speculate on where this plot might go... and I really have no idea.
