Episode four of Di Wang Gong Lüe is up, thanks once again to subtitle-nonny. Voila.

So, after watching the fourth episode, I went back to re-watch the first three, and....

"Why did you send me to get this crappy trinket?"
"Because someone wants this thing."
"Ah? Could it be your sweetheart?"

OMG, Yao-er. xD Well, in a manner of speaking, yes, you could put it that way, but... [/wheeze]

Anyway.

Episode 4 thoughts:

Hmm, so Duan Baiyue isn't in the best health, is he... This is what caused me to decide to rewatch the earlier episodes, because I couldn't remember if this had been referred to previously. Turns out, it wasn't, not exactly; there's a bit in episode 2 where it might possibly be hinted at - he mentions feeling dizzy - but I thought it was just an ordinary headache or stress or something, especially since Yao-er responded to the matter so lightly at the time.

Three to five years left... what is it with me falling for protagonists who are aware that sometime in the near future, they'll be done? Ahh I suppose it's the whump/HC/stoic sufferer factor, perhaps. Though of course there are a few differences between Baiyue and a Certain Other Protagonist from a different canon, namely that our dear king of Xinan is in good enough condition to pull off the occasional martial arts badassery, even if he pays for it later. (All worth it if it means saving his little bro, of course. <3 Ahh I love the relationship between the Duan brothers.)

"You want me to dress up as a woman and prostitute myself?! Watch out, our parents will come out of the earth to bury you!"

[/WHEEZE] Well, when you put it that way....

Oh dear, the things Yao-er puts up with. First being sent into the Trap of Doom, now this questionable undercover mission! If his relationship with Duan Baiyue weren't as good as it is, I might find the whole thing a bit sketch. As it is, I'll just sit here and laugh over it. (Just bribe the kid with something slimy, venomous, and deadly, and he'll forget all about how troublesome it is-!)

He does make a rather pretty girl, though. xD And (apparently) it isn't as if it's the first time he's crossdressed Because Of Reasons, haha. (Hiding from enemies? What kind of enemies could a kid possibly have?! ...Then again, considering he seems to have some sort of poisonous creepy crawly on him at all times, perhaps I shouldn't be asking this question.)

Meanwhile, the mystery plot thickens, and both Chu Yuan and Duan Baiyue are circling around to the same conclusion - that the House of Liu is behind everything... wonder how this will unfold.

I wonder how long this series will turn out to be - apparently the novel it's based on is quite lengthy, so surely there will be some corners cut in some places. Though the first few episodes do follow the first few chapters, just with a few adjustments. And I'm unsure as to what extent the relationship between Chu Yuan and Duan Baiyue will be adapted - of course, right now, I can't actually investigate how it unfolds in the novel because only the first few chapters are translated, but... hm.

Aughhh [/flop] I wish the episodes weren't so short! I want more! But at least, you know, somebody is taking the time to subtitle it. And I'm really grateful for that, really.

You made me curious about this. Downloading all four episodes as we speak. I might not get to watch right away, but I'll add them to my library, and maybe get around to it soon-ish. (I've also recently discovered Plex, so I'm a little bit more excited about new media than usual right now :))

Thanks for making me aware of this.
