Glam it up, baby
Aug. 8th, 2017 07:56 pmToday was kind of crap, but the wig that I ordered to wear at Pride arrived, and I had a whole lot of fun playing with loud makeup this evening, so I guess it's all right in the end.
The wig is a different shade of blue than I was expecting, but it looks all right, so, can't complain. The layers in the back are also longer than I expected, and I am Not A Fan of how they fall, so I think I'm going to have to cut it a bit. But we'll see what happens after I give it a little TLC. The quality is a little... uh. Well. I'm going to give it the same treatment that I used to give doll hair; I always had good results, so hooopefully I'll be able to smooth out the texture and get everything to sit nicely (and see just how much I need to snip off, if necessary). At least it wears snugly enough that I can get all of my hair tucked under it.
I have a blue lipstick that I was thinking about wearing with this (MAC Matte Royal) but it leans way too purple, so that's out. So it looks like I'm going to have to go with neutral sparkle gloss (Smashbox Bare Light) or the old standby for black (MUFE #50). Upside of sparkle gloss: Doesn't have to look perfect, isn't drying. Downside: IT STICKS TO FUCKING EVERYTHING. Yeah, I dunno, I guess I'll have to see.
Eyes are probably going to be... hmmm... I'm thinking of going with a foolproof combination of ice white + shimmery teal. Can't remember the brand. But I've used this duo so much over the years, and it's perfect. Only thing is that the wear is a little iffy - even with primer, I have a feeling I might run into crease issues. And yeah, I know that it's just for fun, but I like my eye makeup to stay where I put it, goddamnit. Going to have to test this one further, I guess.
Most of the other blues that I have are in large palettes, which is inconvenient, or loose, which is a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS. Oh god. I love the way loose shadows look soooo much, and they're so fucking cheap. I own a ton by Shiro and they're awesome. But applying them is like... just no. I remember that I tried pressing a bunch of them once, but I guess I didn't press them firmly enough, or didn't use enough binding agent or something, because one of them turned to powder in its pan and I ended up with silver eyeshadow all over the inside of my cosmetics bag... If I ever do that again, I swear, I'll be more diligent with packing it. Eesh.
Aaanyway... Depending on how things shake out that day, I might need to apply some of this outside the house. Which isn't so bad - I can do it quickly - but it's annoying, so the fewer brushes and pots I need to put in my bag, the better. ;V
So! Yeah, I have a few ideas about how I'm going to do my face, which is nice. Like, it isn't important, but... guys, I really love doing my makeup. So I really don't want to pass up the opportunity to paint myself as loudly as possible. xD
Oh man, I really need to re-sort my cosmetics drawers though... When I was picking through it today, I turned up some stuff that I forgot I even had. Time to do some organizing. xD
