Canada is a clusterfuck with regards to indigenous issues lately, and it bothers me so much.

As a matter of fact, I can't even point to one specific incident, because there's SO MUCH fucked up stuff going on. Pipelines and suicides and damming and poverty and - Jesus fucking christ.

None of these problems in general are new (though some specific events are - the Bella Bella diesel spill was earlier this month, for instance) but there sure has been a lot of it showing up on my news feeds lately.

It's just... it's depressing, and distressing. And it's wrong that we're still at this point, that Canada is still fucked up on indigenous-related everything.

I'm going to have to look into... I don't know. Letter-writing campaigns or something. There's little that one person can do, but I can't just sit here and do nothing.

Even though I like my country a lot overall, sometimes it's just - it's fucked up. With regard to this stuff, it's totally fucked up.

And then there's everything that's going on locally. We're still a mess up here. A lot of people are going through tough times. And homelessness is still a problem (and guess what's one of the largest demographic groups making up the local homeless population... go on, guess). And it's going to be a hard winter. So I need to do what I can re: that. But I have a few ideas.

Christ, this entry is depressing.
