☆ Mom's birthday is on Sunday. I've already bought her something, but I'm going to have to go poke around downtown tomorrow to see if I can find something better. She's... very, very hard to please. Argh. Ah, well. I planned to head down anyway, so it isn't such a big deal.

☆ Tonight, I finished one of the longest poems I've ever written. 96 lines. It was a challenge, because normally I do such short stuff. And I'm probably going to look at it tomorrow and wonder what the hell I was thinking, it all flows wrong, blah blah blah... But I'm happy with it right now, at least. It's fic poetry, but centred around original characters, and I had a lot of fun with it, and that's what's important.

☆ Pokemon Go: This evening was a mixture of things. I HATCHED A BULBASAUR. AND A PONYTA. Very good evening for eggs, lemme tell you. :D Also spent a ridiculous amount of time battling, just for the hell of it. After all, I had all these potions and revives, so y'know. Might as well try to claim more gyms. I want coins so that I can get a bag upgrade (and more incubators...) but I sure as hell don't want to pay for them. Anyway - managed to kick Valor out of the firehall gym, stuck my Hypno in there, collected my coins... and then immediately was kicked back out. By Valor. /shakesfist! Instinct took the Mac station, which is quite a surprise, because they aren't a team that one usually sees in this part of the city, and the gas station is usually a Valor stronghold. It's been defended by the same Valor Dragonite for I don't know how many days now. Seeing them get booted is all fine with me, because the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I don't attack yellow gyms, yo. GODSPEED, INSTINCT, I HOPE TO SEE YOUR CHEERFUL GOLDEN BEACON AGAIN SOON.

☆ Fml I really need to get my rarepair exchange stuff finished... orz GOING TO TACKLE THAT THIS WEEKEND YEAHHHHHH!

Umm...guess who didn't know you could claim your coins as soon as you took over a gym? *sheepishly raises hand* Thanks to you I just wandered down to the nearest gym and took it back from Valor, though I imagine someone will take it from me soon. Still, there's a shiny golden beacon over there for now (and some shiny gold coins in my inventory, finally.) ^_^

Haa, yeah! But don't feel too silly, because I didn't know it either, until a couple of days ago.

IIRC you can only claim them something like... I want to say every 20 hours. So if, theoretically, there are two gyms right next to each other and you're able to take down both of them and insert placements, do so, and then grab your coins.

But anyway. Yeah. I had no idea until somebody told me!

Yeah, it's every 20 hours, and I know this because Mr. R---- goes about it very methodically; he has a route he walks in the small hours every morning (when he is less likely to be kicked out of gyms, and also it's not oppressively hot yet) taking over as many as he can. Also, you can only collect coins from a maximum of ten gyms at once. He usually doesn't get that many but he has on a couple of occasions.

I don't even play this game.
