Finished reading: Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett. See previous RW entry for my thoughts on it. I could probably write an entire entry about how I didn't like it, and I think I will do that eventually, because I still can't put my finger on the reasons exactly, but it might be useful to take a closer look at it. But for now - yeah, no, definitely not a favourite. Which is a surprising, because I love Pratchett so much, and there are very few of his novels that feel like duds to me, especially in the earlier novels. (I mean, I'm someone who loves The Colour of Magic, a Discworld book that a lot of readers dislike. I'm not exactly difficult to please.) ... Anyway.

Currently reading: Police by Jo Nesbø. I'm... having trouble getting into it. I usually enjoy the Harry Hole series, but from the start of this one I'm just feeling cold about it. Too many assholes on the dance floor, maybe. Nesbø tends to write a lot of assholes, and they're meant to be unlikeable/villainous/generally bad sorts (and then there's Harry, who's a jerk at times but also on the side of good, more or less), but I feel like there's a lot of it thrown right at me in the beginning, too much all at once. Also - not to get too spoilery about it, but - some of the stuff going on with Harry makes me raise an eyebrow a bit. It doesn't seem very believable. Then again, I'm not an expert on things like gunshot wounds and comas, so... I dunno.

On the upside, Nesbø is sure bringing on a barriage of horrible murders, as usual. AND Katrine Bratt is in this novel, and I like her, so. There is that. Also: "Sorry for this ditsiness from Bergen. I'll go home and eat fish heads in shame." Oh, Katrine. :D

Reading next: Haven't decided! Maybe some random thing, oooorrr maybe more Discworld... up next on that to-read list is Reaper Man, which I don't remember anything about.
