✿ Today was full of nothing in particular. But I did read a lot more of The Silmarillion, which was nice. Got through the story of Beren and Lúthien - so I'm a bit past that part now. I really like those two a lot; theirs is such a stirring story. And I love that Lúthien takes initiative and helps Beren on his quest. They made it into Morgoth's stronghold, together, and got out together - totally badass, both of them.

✿ I tried watching Y tu mamá también (2001). I hated it. This film was a big deal when it came out, and it won some awards and was nominated for some others, so I thought I'd find it interesting at least, but no. I hated it. Couldn't even get past the first half hour of it, which is very unusual for me. Generally I'm willing to sit through some truly terrible crap in hopes that it'll get better (it usually doesn't), and there aren't actually many movies I don't finish watching. But this is one of them. -1000, would not recommend.

✿ A friend linked this Norse God Family Tree and I rather like it. The illustrations are cute - but what I like best are the author's character descriptions. They have a good sense of humour. (Actually, I suggest checking out the rest of the site too - their history comics are pretty funny.) Anyway, it reminds me that even though I'm all into Nordic history and whatnot, I really know very little about the mythology... maybe I should take a look at some point. Beyond silly illustrations and the related notes, I mean. There have been a couple of times when people have asked me questions about it - sometimes for fic, but also related to roleplaying as well, and all I could answer with was "Er... I don't know."

✿ I think it might be the heat that's causing me to be in a "I am too tired to socialize" mood lately. Someone like me is not built for summer weather, even if it's nice to have so much sunshine.

Thanks for Norse Mythology link! We can totally talk about norse myths (or any myths) any time you want, btw. I can't promise astonishing brilliance, but I'll try my best.

Start at the beginning! I have a long-left-alone norse myth retelling project that starts with "If you want to be technical about it, the world ended the moment it began." because of the thematic resonance of Norse Myth starting with Ice on one side and Fire on the other.

Alternatively, you could listen to Sundown:Whispers of Ragnarok, which is an a capella album retelling Norse Myths and putting some things in really interesting perspective, not because they change things, but because they bring together events that are usual poken off far apart.
