Nobody needs to read about my runny nose, but I'll sulk about being sick anyway. Today would have been a good day for driving practice, but I just don't feel up to it. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.
Managed to put together a FST for A Redtail's Dream. Not entirely satisfied with it, because I would like it to be longer, but I don't want to stuff it with filler either. I have a feeling that a lot of the tracks will need to be re-arranged, so I'll test it tomorrow while I'm at work.
Now that I think of it, the length is probably fine. It's almost an hour. Most of my FSTs are longer, but honestly, once you get longer than an hour it's less likely that one will listen to the whole thing in one sitting, so.
I had wanted to include "Lemminkäinen's Return" by Sibelius, but it doesn't really fit with the tone of the rest of the FST. "The Swan of Tuonela" would have been a better fit thematically, but it's such a quiet and slow song and honestly, I don't like it, unless it's taken in the context of listening to the entire Lemminkäinen Suite together. So... I don't know what to do with this Sibelius idea. His music doesn't seem to be a common favourite for metal covers, unlike some other composers (I.E. Grieg's "Hall of the Mountain King" has two very good metal versions that I know of). But maybe there's something I missed.
Going to have to think about it, I guess. At this point, I'm heavily leaning toward swapping it out for some Apocalyptica, though. At least they're both Finnish?
How much instrumental is too much instrumental? Nobody knows. Then again, I feel instrumentals are underused in FSTs in general, so maybe the more, the better.
