Driving practice today. Urgh. I hate driving, and it stressed me out, but at least I got it done. It would probably be better if I did it with a professional, and with a smaller vehicle, but lessons are so expensive and I can't afford to pay for the amount that I would need. But when it gets closer to when I'll need to take the test, I'll have to do that.

The reason it's so nerve-wracking for me is due to my anxiety. I get stressed out, and there is just too much information to take in at once. My eyes can't be in so many places at the same time. And my sense of space is not good, because the vehicle I have to practice with is huge. Overall, not a fun experience.

There's also the issue of setting aside time to do it. My parents don't understand that I need to do particular things at particular times, and that it really stresses me out when my schedule gets changed. So the result is... well, it's a mess.

I also don't like driving around aimlessly for no reason. It annoys me, because there are a million and one things that I'd rather be doing. So, I'm going to try to think of ways to drive practically, where there's actually a point to it. On work days, it'll be difficult, but on weekends it's easier, because I can practice a little bit and then drive to a place where I want to go.

But. Still. It will be... interesting. I need to be ready to get my license soon, because my learner's permit expires on July 10th. I don't like driving and I don't want to do this, but I have to.

Anyway! In happier news, we've had some great weather lately. It feels so nice to be able to go outside without a jacket! Though I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune when things start to be +20C and such.

Augh, good luck. D: I freaked out a lot when I was learning to drive, too (in fact my parents had to bribe me to learn).

20+ is the worst. I've been dreading the end of winter because even though spring is not the worst, spring means.. summer.. is coming... AHHHHH

I don't want to hinder you or anything so let me know if I shouldn't say things like this in the future but.. is it really necessary to drive? I mean, I have a license and I love driving, so I guess it's kind of weird to be saying this but I know people who never got a license and thrive! I know you said you have to drive, and I don't know what public transit is like where you live.. but I just want to affirm that you don't have to do something you don't feel safe doing. Driving is dangerous and there are a lot of awful drivers around.

Regardless, learning is the hardest part! It gets much better once you feel more comfortable and unfortunately it just takes time and practice. :P July is still far away. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

I don't know if you'll find this encouraging, but I hope you do. It took me 5, yes FIVE test attempts to get my license. No joke. My father was the main person who taught me, and he was a good and patient teacher, but the process was still slow for me. I rejoiced when I succeeded in the little things, cuz they all added up. :) Later, I got some instruction from a few professional teachers; it was helpful getting another viewpoint/teaching style. My brothers took Drivers’ Ed and passed their drivers’ test on the first go. So an instructor, depending on who you get, may be really beneficial and even save learning time in the long run. How many lessons do you think you'll need? Maybe you can take half that number of lessons? What kind of car do you practice with?

Even when I got my license, I still was not done learning. It was at least a year before I finally started driving regularly without someone sitting next to me.

I get you on the eyes having to be in multiple places. I could be paying attention to the front, but just barely miss something from the side. I sometimes felt like I had to have eyes on the sides and back of my head. Driving feels like multitasking in itself. I even bump into things when I walk even though I think it’s out of my way lol. And my sense of direction is poor. I have to pay special attention to longer-distance directions to remember them. I’m so thankful for GPS’s.

A week ago, I had to drive to a place (by myself) that was 40 minutes away. I was so happy I succeeded/survived the drive! I think I came a long way, esp since those years ago I thought I'd never even get my license.
