Finished Reading: The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett. Delightful as always. First time re-reading it. There were a lot of things that I forgot. I feel that Rincewind displayed more inner strength here... at least, to the extent that he ever has that kind of thing. A lot of it probably had to do with the spell lodged in his mind, I'll grant. Anyway, there were a lot of nice moments with him and Twoflower toward the end.

Currently Reading: MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood. I've been waiting ages to read this; I kept meaning to get my hands on the paperback but it slipped my mind. I've been following this trilogy ever since that year I was working as a TA; the class that I was covering was studying Oryx and Crake. I don't know why O&C stuck with me the way it did; I was really into post-apocalyptic fiction at the time, but I'm not sure why that stood out. ...Anyway. There was a lot I liked about O&C, and a lot that I didn't. And the same can be said of the second book in the trilogy, Year of the Flood.

I'm not halfway into MaddAddam yet, and so far it's like the above - some things I enjoy, some things I don't, but overall I still like it. I'm interested in the world that Atwood created for this trilogy, even if sometimes the tech and the references to current times are a little heavy-handed.

There is currently in development an HBO television series based on this trilogy; I'm really curious about it. I'm not sure how they would do it; since the timelines jump around in the novels, would they do that, or would they go with a linear narrative, or something else... And also, how would they bring this world to life. That could be interesting. But considering the amount of rape and violence in this trilogy, I'm not sure I would actually want to watch it. Not unless they toned that down a lot. I can barely handle the novels sometimes as it is.

Reading Next: Equal Rites is next up in my "Let's read Terry Pratchett!" re-read of his novels (or at least, the novels that I own. Which is nearly all of them.) I've re-read this one a couple of times, but I don't currently recall a lot of details about it beyond the basic storyline. We'll see how this goes.
