Somehow I ended up saying "Yes! Yes, I will make a fanmix composed entirely of Eurovision songs!"

... It seemed like a good idea at the time?

Ahhh I'm having fun with it so far, though. But unfortunately it probably won't turn out half as cracktacular as the anons that I promised it to had hoped. Then again, you never know.

Oh, and it'll be a Sweden/Norway fanmix. Yes. Suggestions appreciated of course... especially for pre-2008 stuff, because I'm not very familiar with Eurovision before that year, going to have to do some digging. Looking for some romantic songs, but I also want to incorporate that "fuck you, neighbour :| " aspect that they have going on.

Errrr other than this silliness, I haven't done much. Though it totally reminds me that I should look up the dates for this year's Eurovision. It's always best to be prepared, y'know. ;p

It's not Sweden/Norway, but speaking of Eurovision, are you familiar with Germany's amazing Eurovision 1979 masterpiece, Genghis Khan? If not, run, don't walk. 100% AMAZING (by which I mean hideously, hilariously offensive, but so amazing).

I heard the (non-English) version once yeeeaaars ago, I actually had no idea that it was a Eurovision song!

Sweden has a lovely radio station that is 100% Eurovision songs (with Melodifestivalen songs mixed in, but maybe that's okay since it's an FST with Sweden) that pops up around this time of year. Partly.

So far it's shaping up to have an A side and a B side. The A side is 1814-1905, B side is... eh... post-WWII to modern.

The Eurovision songs on that mix may be from any participating country though, right?

I've been watching a bunch of dance videos lately, and realized that some historical interactions between characters would make for good dance interpretations. A dance equivalent of fanfiction, if you get my drift. I think the "fuck you, neighbour :| " aspect between Norway and Sweden, as you call it, would make for a great dance interpretation.

On a related note, I may watch the Eurovision Young Dancers competition this year.

Yeah. I don't think I'd be able to put something together if I were only using Norwegian and Swedish entries. (Though if I expanded the limitation to include anything from the rest of the Nordic countries, perhaps... But still too limiting for my liking)
