Hetalia stuff - AHHHH
Dec. 21st, 2014 09:44 pmI'm so happy about the latest blog update. New sketch of Denmark and Norway, hooray!
Talking with some people leads to the conclusion that it's probably Napoleonic era, based on the clothing. And it'd explain why Denmark looks so worried. But sometimes it's hard to tell - there have been some strange/anachronistic clothing design choices in the past (thinking back to the March Across the Belts strip, the stuff they're wearing in that comic doesn't look very 1650s at all, but eh).
I wish there were more explanation/description, but I guess we'll just have to speculate. BUT oh man, right now I have such a huge craving for Napoleonic era fic! And I wish so much that the Anon who was writing the story set during that time period had finished it. They were the one who had written that amazing fic about the 1814 Sweden-Norway union that I'd loved so much... The Denmark/Norway dynamic in "When the Sixth Day Comes" is just so wonderful, even if it's brief compared to the overall length of the story, and I had so wanted to see more of it.... Ah, well.
Perhaps this will at least inspire some fanart set during that time period? That'd be nice. :D

Date: 2014-12-22 09:51 pm (UTC)The manga started as a webstrip on the artist's site IIRC. And there is a lot of extra material on the artist's blog. ALSO the newest manga, Hetalia World Stars, is being published in Shonen Jump Plus and updated twice per week. This is a really big deal because until this began a few months ago, we hadn't heard anything from the author in a year (since last Christmas) and there hadn't been any new material published..
Hetalia File Archive has the scanlations with links to the original webstrip pages (both for Himaruya's sites and for the Shonen Jump Plus stuff)... Initially there was a "main storyline" plot but then it switched over to nonlinear strips. The Canada strips were what got me into the series in the beginning.
And then of course there's a bunch of fanwork and old raw/scanlated things at the Hetalia community on LJ.
Errrr anyway. Sorry for my enthusiasm, it's just that this is my main fandom and I've been in it since 2009 so. ^^; People expressing interest in it gets me excited. It isn't an amazing series, but I find both the strips and the fanwork a lot of fun.
