A few days ago, I was linked to Gnoosic, which suggests bands based on ones that you already like.
It suggested Werkraum, which is an artist I'd never heard of, but I'm quickly becoming attached the more I listen to their stuff. If you like folk/neofolk music, and/or German-language stuff, then you might like this.
So far my favourite is Ein Lied von Lieb und Treu. Steh auf Nordwind and Slâfest du, friedel ziere? are also lovely.
And some of the songs are in English, but not many.
... I'm definitely going to have to check out more of their music; it's totally relevant to my interests.

Date: 2014-11-28 04:46 am (UTC)Say, do you have any folk/neofolk favourites that you'd recommend? I'm pretty new to the genre, and I'm always looking for new stuff to listen to.

Date: 2014-11-28 04:55 am (UTC)Paniqe Celtique 2 Le Village.
It's a lot more heavily folk-infused than you might think (and also a lot more folk-y than the group's first album, Panique Celtique, with bonus ridiculous videos).
I'll have to think more about this. I'm not very strong on neofolk, but how do you feel about folk rock (of the 1970s)?
Also, I've subscribed to your journal, but please let me know if you'd like access to mine (I post a lot under access-lock, mostly to keep my academic colleagues from finding me out).

Date: 2014-11-28 05:06 am (UTC)70s folk-rock would be good too! Really, folk-anything is what I've been edging toward lately (folk-rock, folk-metal, etc etc). I like a "try it all and then narrow it down later" approach. :D
Ah, if you post a lot under lock, then access would be great, thanks! I totally understand wanting to keep things on the down-low.

Date: 2014-11-28 05:13 am (UTC)In the realm of 1970s folk-rock, you could try the French group Malicorne, or the English group Fairport Convention, both of which I really like (although Malicorne's stuff from the 80s is not really folk).
