Stuff I received in the mail

So I received another doujin in the mail today! ... I think this was the last one that I was waiting for.
It's this one. It's a Brandenburg/Prussia and Saxony/Bavaria book. Which normally aren't pairings/characters that I read, but... it's in English! With a historical setting! And that was enough to get me interested, really.
I'm glad that I did buy it, because it's really good. Though I found it a little bit hard to follow at times because my knowledge of the German states really isn't very good (or rather, it's nonexistent. I know a bit about the Holy Roman Empire, and I know a bit about modern Germany, but the big space in between I'm basically like ???? when it comes to German-related anything. So.)
One thing that this book has in it is the "Union = marriage" concept, and that's something that I go back and forth on liking... sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. I think it was done well here, though I can't put my finger on why - maybe because it seemed to mainly be about marriage as political union, rather than marriage as a romantic union. I prefer that, usually.
Anyway. Aside from that, I also received a vintage ring in the mail today. I've taken a liking to Nordic modernist jewellery lately and finally decided, "Oh, too hell with it, I'll get it" when I saw this lovely bronze Hannu Ikonen ring... I'll put the photo under a cut.

Anyway, it's in the "reindeer moss" style and my photography really doesn't catch how lovely it is. I'd love to collect more but maaaan this stuff is a little too expensive. But since this one is plain enough to wear every day, at least I'll get plenty of wear out of it.
Ah... it's supposed to get down to -27C tonight. I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully tomorrow during the day it won't be so cold - I was really hoping to go downtown to work on fic, and it'd be awful if I had to stay inside all day.
