I'm normally not very into games, but for the last few days I've been playing around with Valiant Hearts. It's a computer game set during the First World War; the format is somewhere between "puzzle game" and "visual novel", which is perfect for me. Anyway, I've been really enjoying it. :D

It was originally made for kids, and there are some parts where it hits you over the head with education - there are pop ups at the start of every level with historical facts - but I don't find that too bothersome; it isn't that intrusive. And the gameplay is not difficult, which is great for me because I suck at games, even ones that are more like visual novels. (Guess who had to use a walkthrough for certain parts of Ace Attorney? Yeah...) Though I must admit, there were some parts where my face was pretty much D: because it was so - well, violent and sad. But that's to be expected of a WWI game, really.

I'm not that far into it yet - my free time is really limited, so I've only been able to fiddle with it for a couple of hours - but so far I really like the story, and I'm so glad that I finally took the time to look into it. I heard someone mention it a while ago, but just didn't feel like I could spare a moment for games.

... There is one disappointing thing, though - my main laptop is too old to run it. Well, not exactly; it isn't a hunk of junk or anything. Still had some time left. It's the graphics card that's the problem; it just can't do it. So I have to play it on the little netbook that I use for writing and travel and... p-pfff. The screen is tiny and sometimes it feels like it's having a hard time running it. BUT it's all worth the fiddling around with a second computer in order to play it. I'm happy with it. <3 (So far, but I don't expect it to change)

I thought I'd never heard of that game before, but apparently I saw the trailer for it a while ago. I forgot all about it. It does look like a really sad (but interesting!) game... I might look into it myself though, so thanks for reminding me it exists.

Also, I don't think using a walkthrough for Ace Attorney necessarily means you're bad at games! I had to use one at some points too. I swear some of the evidence you need to pull during the court sessions has no logic behind it at all.

I'll have to check it out! I've been itching to play some new games. :D Though I'll to check to see if it will on my XP. It's almost 10 years old so it could be tricky. It struggles a bit just playing Sims 3!

Using walk-throughs is part of the gaming experience! I use them from time-to-time, though I admit I don't really game all that much. I just play Pokemon and Sims 3. I do have some of the Mario games but I'm not that great at them. OTL
