It was only a matter of time.

I just shelled out for the Weiss Kreuz boxed set.

I know, I know - as far as anime goes, Weiss Kreuz is pretty bad. But I've seen it multiple times, and I still love it. And y'know, I'll finally have an excuse to get rid of those fansub tapes that're cluttering up my shelf.

It'll be nice to have subtitles that are actually readable. Plus the whole... paying for a legit version of a series that I've loved for years thing. That's important too.

There's nothing else going on in my life at the moment. I've been spending a lot of time cleaning.

Heh heh, yay for legit sources of so-bad-it's-great anime!

For myself, I've preordered the first new Sailormoon box set (because Viz will be getting all my money for a good quality release), and I'm trying to decide if I want to get the Madoka movies. I didn't really love Madoka as a series (though the ending of the third movie truly satisfies me on a surprisingly malicious level), and yet the animation and art style intrigue me and the soundtrack is Yuki Kajiura's usual aural delight. I might wait for a bit until the prices come down, and save up for something I actually want (the Japanese Blu-Ray of Porco Rosso in particular).

I remember watching it and trying to think up goofy plots that would happen. I totally was not expecting to be right about the organ harvesting episode. It made something hurt inside. ^_^

The remastered original Sailormoon is pretty good quality, and the remake is still in early days yet so I haven't quite figured out my feelings on it (apart from agreeing that it can be disconcertingly off-model at times, but then again, so was the original series). I'm just glad to have bought the new shiny large revised manga editions -- certain scenes were redrawn by Takeuchi-sensei herself to correct some continuity problems in costuming and the like. Pretty neat there.

Regarding Madoka, I can't say that it's as good as the fanboys make it out to be. It's just dark magical girls with a couple of plot twists and more violence. But the animation concepts are very interesting, visually, and a Kajiura score really pumps up the action scenes while keeping the slice-of-life moments in balance. Of the three movies, the first two are mostly recaps while the third goes in completely different direction...but anyway, it remains to be seen.

I'm catching up on a whole bunch of series that I missed the first time around, too. Natsume Yuujinchou, Senkou no Night Raid, Bodacious Space Pirates...at least there's never a shortage to stuff to investigate.

Well, it's not a box set, but I do not regret a penny I spent on my official WK DVDs. THE BLOOPER REELS, MAN. "I need to shave my tongue."
