I have too many books.

I know that people sometimes say that there isn't such a thing as too many books, but... if you run out of space for them, that's when you had too many.

Wouldn't be such a problem if I didn't have such a tiny bookshelf, though. 8|

I cleaned it up (for the first time in years) and did a ton of weeding out and re-arranging and I STILL have two boxes of books sitting on my floor with no place for them. But at least I managed to take care of the stuff that was like... randomly piled on the floor... Sigh.

*solidarity face* I am slowly but surely attempting to cull my books, removing ones that I know I can get from the library or in a reasonably decent format on Project Gutenberg, while keeping the ones that for one reason or another are not nearly so available. (It would be a lot easier if I didn't keep buying manga, even though I only buy a handful of series that have a very high re-read value to me.)

Do you arrange books by genre, or author, or anything like that?

Part of the problem is that my town doesn't have a good library - and it's in a bad location, so for someone without a car, it's similar to not having a library at all. But like you, I've been trying to use Project Gutenberg more often, when what I'm looking for is available there. It helps a little... but not as much as I'd like. Aaaaa.

The shelves are kind of... mostly arranged by size, pfff. Since it's easier to fit more on there if I put similar ones together. But I do have all of my Terry Pratchett stuff together, at least. And I've put the unread books all together so that I won't forget them. And the language-related reference books are all grouped together in the most accessible part, so that I have no excuse for ignoring them any more. :'D
