Fresh starts and vacation and writing
Jun. 3rd, 2013 09:55 pmOkay, so, now for a real update instead of just flailing about moving journals.
I booked my vacation today! A week in Victoria, BC in late July. Originally I'd considered going somewhere further away, but figured it'd be better to just stay in western Canada. It'll be interesting, anyway. Never gone over in that direction. I hear it's nice.
Mostly, though, I'm honestly just relieved to have an opportunity to get away from home. Things are driving me nuts for various reasons that I don't want to get into right now, so it'll be awesome to get away, especially since I originally thought that I wouldn't be able to go anywhere this year.
I expect it'll be really low-key; lots of writing, lots of relaxing, lots of enjoying not having to do anything for anyone at all. But I'll probably plan some things... not sure what yet. Anybody on the Flist ever been there?
Anyway. In the weeks coming up I'm going to have to write as much as I can. I have that fic due for the NorIce fest coming up, and it's like... fff I'm going to have to work really hard to get it in by the deadline. On the other hand, I think I can manage it; it's just going to be a bit of a pinch.
It helps that now that my computer is back from being cleaned, it runs like an absolute dream, and I can write on it again! Before, with the cooling pad under it, it was way too high up - fine for chatting, but super uncomfortable for extended writing. Now... I can actually use it again. So awesome. SO with this in mind I might be able to write more often. Maybe. Hopefully.
Over the weekend I did get a bit; managed to scribble part of the draft on paper while having lunch at my favourite Japanese place. Felt kind of weird to be writing porn in public, but my handwriting is so bad that even if somebody happened to glance over (which didn't happen) they wouldn't be able to read it anyway.
BAH that's all for now, I just realized that it's getting late and ffff. It's so hard to keep track of time in the summer; it's still as bright as day when it's 10 o'clock and unless I pay attention it's easy to just not notice.
