Well, let's see.

[livejournal.com profile] nordipalooza is all prepared and ready for the 2013 fest. Signups open on the 13th. I'm going to have to put my nose to the grindstone as far as getting prompt lists made up - I can recycle stuff from the 2012 Nordipalooza and Eurofunk, but still, making the lists up is a chore. So, that needs to be done before the 28th. Very doable, but still. Have to get it done ahead of time! Hopefully this one will be just as successful as last year.

I've been working on a fic with kind of a ridiculous premise. For a while there, I was really unsure about it, but a couple of days ago I re-read it from the beginning, trying to look at it from a reader's perspective, and... I like it. I'm not too far into it yet, it's going to be a long one, but still, I like it. That's a great feeling. I'm going to have a three-day weekend coming up, so hopefully I can use that time to work on it.

The whole "Let's build good habits by going for a walk (almost) every night" and working toward that LOTR walk goal has been going really great. I don't manage to do it every night, but almost every night, and that's good enough. For every night that I do it I get a gold star on my calendar and ten cents put toward something frivolous, heh. That's good motivation.

Though the "something frivolous" might end up not being so frivolous. I've been making a conscious effort to study Norwegian more frequently (and rewarding myself with change and gold stars whenever I do it). Well, for certain definitions of "study". But since I don't have any books to work from at the moment, going is kind of half-assed. Not that I ever intended to full-ass it, but it'd be nice to have another source to work from... Especially since when it comes to reading and writing, I'm pretty much illiterate. So I have my eye on some grammarbooks and workbooks and things. We'll see how that turns out. I have a self-imposed ban on buying more books right now, but if I manage to stick with this for a while, then maybe I'll make an exception for something like that.

And aside from all that, the air's getting warmer and the days are getting brighter. :D Feels good!

The LOTR walk goal sounds pretty fun. My sport of choice is swimming and I'm sort of sad there's no equivalent. How far along are you?

Well, I did 28 lengths last Saturday, each length is 25 meters so that makes my total 700 meters. Possibly I can start tracking my Channel crossing?

I hope you have something planned for when you reach Mt Doomvor any other landmark along the way.

I was really hoping for something geeky/fictional, though.

Isn't Bree before Rivendell? Books are always good, always. What are you reading right now?
