It's cold as balls out. All I want to do is huddle inside, wrapped up in a blanket. Ugh, why can't humans be like Moomins and sleep all winter. Why. Regardless, I had to go out at a ridiculous hour of the morning and endure -30C to get to an appointment and I just... am glad that ordeal is over with, because even though I was dressed properly, it was still really unpleasant.

I've been keeping my eye on Delicious. The recent site redesign has me seething, because it kills most of the functions used in the indexes. But apparently they're going to be re-introducing almost all of the features I need, so until then, I'm just going to keep an eye on it. (Why couldn't they just put everything in to begin with? I wonder. Then again, they did this last time). In the meantime, whenever I need to use 'dexes myself, I've been turning to Pinboard. Not too fond of its layout, but it does what I need it to do, for now. I need to make an account to use for the Baltic index, come to think of it. Have a mirror for the Nordex, but not the Baltics. I'll have to get on that. Not sure what to do with the latest request rounds, though. Wait until Delicious works itself out? Ugh.

Writing is... uh... not going. Haven't had time, and it's disappointing. I have so many fics on the go, and I keep getting ideas, but - no time. Did try working on something yesterday, but just kept staring at it because something seemed off. Think I figured out the problem with it, though. So, hopefully tomorrow I'll actually be able to get some work done on that.

The nice thing about Iceland is that the climate is very mild and we don't get those ridiculously cold times that f.ex. Finland has aplenty. Must be the Gulf Stream. The downside is that it rains a lot, often, randomly and out of nowhere. Yesterday we had a sunny day then a hailstorm, one lightning strike (?!wtf Iceland wtf it's January!?), rain and then sunny again, all within an hour. :D

I've found a couple of tricks that help me write. One is to forget about writing. After a while of that I'll just randomly begin to write. Another one is to find something more urgent to do, especially if it involves making phonecalls or sending e-mails in Icelandic. The inspiration does not as much flow as floods, I tell you! It's also great to begin to write if you only have 15 min before you have to run for the bus, then I could go on writing throughout the day, or at least up until the moment when I realize I have missed the bus and now I have the whole day to myself, that's when I get thoroughly stuck again.

...Wtf. Okay, Iceland. Shine on, ya' crazy diamond. I think that if presented with the option of the two, I might stick with the cold instead, because at least it's constant and predictable.

Having to do other things is indeed a good motivator. :'D Me, well... I find that works best is just having some time to myself, with peace and quiet and no distractions. But the problem is, I haven't been getting it. (WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP TALKING TO ME. WHYYYY. Argh, they won't go away...) So until I do get it, I'm going to keep being fidgety about this whole thing.
