So, earlier in the week, my big order of doujinshi arrived.







Man, that's a lot of doujinshi. (And that isn't all the ones I'd wanted, either! The original list was longer xD)

Gods, they're all so lovely. Man. I like some of them more than others, but overall, I'm very pleased. Originally, I'd planned to do reviews of them. Hard to do that when you can't understand a word of it, I know, but it'd be kind of fun to talk about the art and what I can figure out of the storylines and such. ... Maybe I'll have the energy for that tomorrow, at least, to start it.

Oh man, there are so many things that I need to do, but I have so little energy today. All I want to do is curl up with a book and a glass of home-made lemonade and relax.

... Well. I guess I could do that. All the things that I "need" to do are just fandom things, like replying to people. And doing the household chores can wait for a while, right?

I have never, ever, bought a doujinshi, since I live in a pretty far area in mexico (well, not that far, 3 hours to texas but small city is a small city) and the prices of the shipping be damned

if you write some summaries I would love to read them!

Haha, I figured you'd catch that one! Fortunately, I think someone else might scan it eventually, maybe? But if not, I might try... maybe (if I can find the time).

I wish I could show you some interesting panels from it but the story seems to be very, hmm, subtle. With them trying to understand each other and stuff. I really wish that I could understand Japanese, because there are some parts that seem like the would be really romantic, but it's hard to tell because I don't understand the text, arrrgh.

Though there is one part where Sweden pins Norway against a wall. Oho.



I actually have the other one (the one with the porn, heh) on order too, which makes me happy. ^q^

I'm actually really new to ordering doujinshi - and especially to ordering from Japan; all my previous copies were second-hand - but I'm really glad that my friends roped me into joining them with this order, because I likely never would have been able to get my hands on any of these otherwise (and even though it was expensive, I would have paid twice as much second-hand, augh).

I actually live in a kind of far away area too (the nearest city is 5 hours away....) so I know what you mean about shipping. I'm so glad I was able to save up for this, pf.

I kinda wanted to get my hands on the SuNor one but idk... Now I kinda wish I had gotten it hahaha. (There are many I wish I had gotten in general haha) How did you like Gori's? Nor is such a troll in it. I can't believe how evil he truly is. I'm sad you didn't take a picture of your tape hahaha.

How did you enjoy the others? Which ones are your favorites? How does it feel to be an official doujinshi collector now haha

It's too bad you didn't get it! It really is lovely. At first I was a little disappointed that it wasn't more physical, but reading over it again, I think I appreciate it more this way, because even if I don't understand it, it's clear that it's exploring the internal complications of their relationship, with them trying to figure each other out, and I love that. Though some things confuse me about it. They seem to be living together, but the clothing isn't right for the 1800s, so... I don't know what's going on with that.

Anyway. Gori's was... Pure Gori, really *_* Gorgeous art and crack and half the time I didn't know what was going on but it was hilarious anyway. Norway trolling everyone is the best.

Though this doesn't show the extent of how random some of the little pictures of "Danish and Norwegian things" are... so I took another. The only one I can't figure out is that thing in between the viking ship and the fish. I have no idea wtf that is supposed to be.

Anyway! The rest of the order... hmm... Well, Hard Day's Night certainly made a lasting impression. I had expected just an interesting AU comic, but this one completely blew me away. Heh.

Aside from that, hmm... the IMK dj (I hadn't realized it was a historical one! that makes it even better), and Gori of course, and Norrsken... The De/Su compilation is wonderful too; I tend to feel kind of iffy about historical stuff with that pairing but the art is amazing and the ending is actually really sweet and romantic. ;3; And that Norway/Denmark anthology had some really nice stories in it (and good gods, I love it when they're in that order, love it love it love it)

But I still need to re-read everything; when I received the package I kind of breezed through all the comics, fft. So some of them, I remember more than others.

"How does it feel to be an official doujinshi collector now" ... I feel like I've levelled up in fandom. Somehow. I don't even know if that makes any sense. xD

Lol artists tend to forget correct clothing era a lot of the times. Million Lies is a perfect example of that and so is Kærlighed (I think it's how it's spelled). So it's just more of a dialogue doujinshi. I prefer those alot more. I'd rather there be substance ya know? Pretty pictures with pretty dialogue are like hitting a jackpot and it sounds like this one was one. I saw your cute shot of it and aww Sweden <3

There's a lot of stuff I myself didn't get from it. But the scene with Nor cracking up after scaring the nordics had me in a fit of laughter! My poor Dane though! Getting the shit beaten out of him from all angles.

The tape!!! Mayn! Now I wish I had gotten the tape! Lol the thing in between is the stand that the Danish soldiers stand in at times. They're all around the castles. It's too cute! I'm so shocked though with how small Norrsken's doujinshi is though. It's a very odd size.

Wasn't hard days night awesome! Omg i loved that one! It was so gorgeous! Definitely one of my favorites! Plus den was gorgeous in it. So was Ice. Hmm loved it!

Lol sounds like all of them left a lasting impression though!

Haha, yeah, I guess they do forget the correct clothing... Or maybe sometimes it's a deliberate choice? Like, meant to be more metaphorical/metaphysical, or something, especially when the time periods are wildly different (WWII uniforms in the 1500s...) Or maybe I'm just overthinking it. xD This SveNor one... come to think of it, Sweden's wearing a nice waistcoat getup that could pass as early 1900s if you squint and use some imagination, so maybe it's meant to be close to the end of the union... or maybe I'm just being hopeful, heh.

AHHH Thanks for telling me what was on the wonderful tape xD I was puzzling over it like whoa. I kind of love it - I mean, it's so cute, but so WEIRD (Why tape??! I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND). Also re: Norrsken's dj, yeah, it's surprising! Very unusual size. I love it, though.

That actually reminds me partly why I love collecting doujinshi... they're all so different, not just in terms of the content of the stories and the artwork, but in the way they're put together. I love looking at books in and of themselves as pieces of art, and these are no exception. The texture of the paper, the design of the covers, the way they're bound (that Nordic Cafe dj is actually really interesting for this... so unusual compared to the others in my order), the size and overall look of it, the occasional use of metallics in the designs... ahhh. I love Norrsken's tiny little comic with its adorable rounded corners, it's so lovely. ;3;
