I am so exhausted. Probably from all the cleaning that I did today. I feel like I've been running around so much, and even though I've been getting a lot of stuff done, I feel like I haven't been doing anything. I don't know how that works.
Started commenting on things... both on the Eurofunk fest, and on the recent Nordic one. It'll take a while to go through everything, though. Oh, well. One thing at a time.
Today I went through the folder full of photos that I took while I was on vacation. I've felt kind of sulky about them honestly, because a lot of them didn't turn out that great. I think I've come to terms with it, though - and realized some of the errors. Part of the problem is that I really didn't get enough practice with my camera before going on that trip; I'd had it a couple of years, but I haven't used it much in that time. Secondly, a lot of the time, things were kind of cloudy and grey - and in Estonia, it rained a lot. Maybe in other conditions the outcome would've been better. Well, can't do anything about that. But the third problem, hmm, blurriness/shakiness... I think with that, it just indicates that I should take my time with photos, that's all. And possibly find something to rest the camera on, heh.
On the upside, the fact that most of my photos turned out terribly just means I need to go back there some time, so that I can get better ones.
Argh, I keep thinking of travel so much lately. I think it's partly that I'm just bored with being in Fort McMurray. Working is okay, but it's boring. I want to go places and do things and hang out with really awesome people and relax a bit. (And get away from my crazypants family).

Date: 2012-08-13 10:42 am (UTC)I think I'll just surprised Coffee. I'll just land in Scotland, crash in her apartment without warning and demand her to take me to places. Yep, that's exactly what I'm gonna do.
Don't beat yourself up about the photos... It's the same for me, I took pictures of amazing views and landscapes and it turned out so lifeless and dull... I guess we really ought to learn more about light and shade, composition and all these things I never bothered learning before... plus, learning the camera more... there are so many possiblities with the digital camera that I don't know how to use properly. In my case, I think that the main problem was the strong light from the sun. I probably should have accommodate my camera accordingly... well, maybe next time... maybe you have option on your camera that prevent blurriness? Mine has... Though taking the time with it and resting it on something stable might be just as much good solution, if not better.
(The solution to all these problems that I found is to take with you someone who knows professional photography :D That's how I have gorgeous photos of Prague! XD)
I need to go and look at the fests myself... the thing is, I have such a crave for long fics latey, argh. But I think I should get a hold of myself and try the short fics - this is pretty much my only chance to get a decent Nordics fic that I haven't read already... About the slavics, maybe I can find something, I haven't searched for these like I did for the Nordics, but with the Nordics, it's almost impossible. Wait a minute... the Eurofunk fest is about the Slavics, or is it something else? I was out of everything lately, hehe.
So how is Estonia? Maybe I can find a not-too-expansive flight there... I wanna travel... I'm obsessed :|

Date: 2012-08-13 11:32 am (UTC)Haha, part of the reason why I'm so frustrated with the photos is that I used to have a camera that I was really good at using, and a lot of my pictures turned out awesome. But this one... no. ALAS.
RE: Fests, yes, maybe you should read them! At the very least, most of the entries are short, so if you don't like what was submitted it won't take long. As for long Nordics fics, can't help you there (I don't know what has been written lately). I'm working on something longish right now (25 pages, still not quite done) but I don't think it'll be to your taste, except for some parts in the beginning. (Yeah, it's another R-18 fic, orz)
The Eurofunk fest was about everyone in Eastern Europe. So, the Slavics, yes, but also Baltics and... pretty much everyone who was in the Eastern Bloc. I haven't read any of the stories yet but some of the fanart is pretty nice. ^q^
Anyway. Travelling to Estonia is... hmm... Well, it was wonderful. The Old Town in Tallinn is BEAUTIFUL. We pretty much spent the entire time tourist-ing around Old Town, because we were only there for two days - didn't have much time to go anywhere else. Because we went there in October, it was rainy, and due to the days that we went (Sunday and Monday... I think) a lot of the museums I wanted to go to were closed (though the time of year probably also related to this) but even with all of that, it was still great. It's so beautiful that it wasn't really necessary to go to museums to be entertained - the scenery was more than enough. (Though it would've been nice to get out of the rain more, heh).
But... I might be a bit biased in favour of Estonia, because I've wanted to go there since I was a teenager. It was really special to me. ;3;
Anyway. We took the boat there from Finland, so I don't anything about how expensive things are for flights and such. :Va Ah, well!

Date: 2012-08-13 01:04 pm (UTC)Hehe, don't apologize for the R-18, plenty of other people will die to read it :D Maybe I'll enjoy it too... I mean, as long as it's not 25 pages of smut...
Thanks for the info on the Eurofunk. I'll check this out, and the Nordics one too. :)
