Hi to everyone who's added me recently! I'm glad to have you around.

Oh man, work's been crazy lately. But, it's always crazy. Fortunately, I'll (with luck) have time to work on submissions for the fic fest this weekend. I haven't had a chance to do it since last week - but with the deadline extended now, I'll definitely be able to make it. I think. Well, before I definitely would have been able to, but it would have been cutting things kind of close. Now I'll be able to take the time I need to make sure everything turns out the way I want it - at least, to a degree.

My birthday supper on Tuesday went well. Parents got me some travel books and some cash to spend in Edmonton when I go. I'm so glad that they didn't make a big deal about it this year, because the older I get, the less I care. Maybe I'm just feeling insecure about getting older.

Two weeks until the Iron Maiden concert, ahhh. <3 I will not lie, I'm getting kind of antsy about it. It just seems like it'll be so much fun - and I really am looking forward to getting out of this city, ugh, even if it's just for a day and a half. Yeah, I really am counting down the days.

Lately, with regard to fandom, I've been feeling increasingly persnickety about things. I keep having this feeling of "Goddamnit, Hetalia fans, CATER TO MY NEEDS" and have been getting more and more grumpy whenever I see something that's badly-characterized. Maybe I've just been reading too many bad fanfictions lately. It'd do me well to just breathe, and then re-read some stories that I do like. Cool my jets a little. Because seriously, I'm starting to annoy myself, and that's just ridiculous!

I know the feeling. I, too, find myself from time to time breaking through tons of bad, bad written fanfictions that make me want to cry and tear my hair out, alternatively. All just because I wanted to read new material about certain character/s or pairing... and god, how much Hetalia is ridden with bad fanfictions, it's unbelievable. Seems like most of the writers are 12 years old kids who think that slapping a few words together is writing :/

I'm glad you know my pain, sob. It's awful! Part of the problem is, there are SO MANY fanfictions out there, and because there is such a high volume, it's hard to find the good ones. But there are good ones! I promise! Hahaha.

A lot of the writers do seem to be kind of young... And I guess I can't really blame them for writing, and writing badly, because everyone needs to start somewhere, and I was exactly like that when I was twelve. (I wrote lots of Digimon fanfiction and it was all terrible, heh). I just... wish it was easier to find things that I want to read.

Though it isn't bad mechanics that bother me so much... it's characterization. I have run into so many fics where the writing is technically fine but it seems like they haven't even read the comics. Especially when it comes to Denmark, oh gods. But ffff that is a long rant....

Anyway. Re: Iron Maiden, they're a metal band, heh, it's not really the kind of music you like, I think... but if you're curious The Clairvoyant and Fear of the Dark are my favourites.

Come to think of it, I was going to do a big long music rec list at one point. I completely forgot about it until now. :Va
