Going to Sweden a week earlier than planned? WELL.

Okay, so. Here is what happened and what is going to happen.

It was in the news that there would be a potential strike of Air Canada employees shortly before I was scheduled to leave the country on the 27th. The result of that strike (which might or might not take place) is unpredictable... maybe my flight would've been affected, or maybe it wouldn't. Still, I didn't want to take any chances.

So, yesterday mum and I went up to the airport. After discussing what might happen (nobody knows) we decided to switch my flight. So now, I'm leaving for Stockholm on the 19th (and getting there on the 20th), rather than when had been planned. This cost us some extra money, but my mum graciously offered to take care of that... and anyway, it's better to be safe than sorry, really.

This means that I'll have an extra week in Sweden. The friend I will be staying with will be working during the week, but that's okay. To be honest, I think I'll just enjoy being somewhere peaceful and quiet. :)a And it isn't as if we won't be doing anything at all. Since we'll have an extra weekend, we'll be visiting the friends that we'll be travelling with later (as scheduled). And that's great. Nice to get to know someone before traipsing all over the Baltic States with them, certainly. :V

I'm just glad that I had most things prepared already. Technically, I'm ready to go; all that is left is to do laundry and pack. STARTING TO GET NERVOUS....

Wow, how lucky! Well, it's unfortunate you had to change plans and pay extra, but hey, extra week in Sweden, who'd say no? \o/

Putting in some extra money is nowhere near as bad as missing a flight due to a strike, plus you get a little bit of peace of mind too not having to worry about it! Aaaa that year when I was dating Snu between countries, every. single. time. I tried to fly over something would happen. A strike looming up ahead, or a snowstorm so fierce it got all flights in Europe cancelled (except for Finnair and Icelandair, but I couldn't know this before I got to Oslo and had to wade through an angry mob of Britons stuck at Gardermoen for the New Year).

...anyway, what I wanted to say was have a great time! Send me a card? :3?

Yeah, you're right. Far better to put in the money than risk it getting cancelled altogether. (And man, an extra week on vacation is nothing to complain about, really.)

I've flown a lot, but only within Canada, so... I guess since this is my first international flight I'm more worried about it than I usually would be, and things going wrong just makes it worse xD But now everything should be smooth sailing (I hope).

I'm sure I'll have a wonderful time <3 And I'd send you a card, but I don't have your address! You can PM it to me if you would like. :)
