This morning sucked. Almost slept in again. However, we were covering Kiss of the Fur Queen in CanLit, and I couldn't afford to miss that class. Fortunately we didn't cover any of the material I'll be presenting on next class, so it's all good. But argh, that one guy in my class was being a douche again... Well, never mind that.

Came home. There were things I had planned to do, but I fell asleep at around 3PM and didn't wake up until 7. I really, really need to stop doing that. It's just plain awful. But between never getting enough sleep and stress and everything, I just can't help it.

Anyway. When I was walking home from school today some poetry came to me. I swear, I wish I had some kind of... vocal recorder thing, so that I could have spoken it and gotten everything as it came. Or you know -- goddamn, I should have just sat down on the curb and written it there, regardless of the cold. As usual, by the time I got home and tried to write it, most of it was gone. Didn't have the right words, the right images, couldn't get it across the way I wanted. The power wasn't there. Normally I'd be able to work something from it, but this one, I'm not sure. It wasn't just poetry, it was a power-song, a spell. Since I couldn't get it down the way I wanted to, I doubt it would have the same punch.

Strange. I was writing some poetry last week, too. Nothing good, mind you, but it was there. I wonder what it is. I think it's the season. Summer is the time for prose. Winter is a time for poetry. Odd that it works that way, but regardless, I always get hit upside the head with poetry at this time of year.

Mum called me today. We discussed flights. Looks like I'll be heading home sometime around the 14th. That's good. It means I'll have time to relax, and lots of it. I swear, when I get back to Fort McMurray I'm going to sleep for a week. Well, maybe not that much, not quite. But a lot, certainly. And mum will still be working for a while when I'm there, so it means I will have the house to myself for about a week or so during the daytime. Excellent!

Sleep - it sounds niiiice ;w;

And it's interesting you find winter the best time to write poetry. It's always hardest for me then. But, I bet you're an excellent poet regardless of the time of year you over-talented crazy thing, you ;___;
