So. Finally posting something, ahhh. Nothing actually new, as I wrote these ages ago. I haven't had time to write recently. It's only just now that I've gotten around to posting these ones, and that's because I was waiting for someone to receive one of them.
Most of you know that I love handwritten work and that I wish manuscript culture could be brought back - and that my approach to aiding that is by sending people lots of snail mail. This project involved picking three people and then sending each of them one handwritten shortfic. Because of the nature of hand-copying, there now exist three different versions of each of these stories: The first handwritten version, the handwritten copies I sent to the people, and then the edited electronic versions that you see here. Each version is a bit different; the copies differ from my original version because I changed things as I copied them, and then the electronic version is also different because I edited these stories quite a while after sending out the handwritten ones.
So basically for every story there are three completely different versions, and aside from this one there is a version only two people have seen, and a version nobody except me has ever seen. I find that pretty cool.

Title: Blue Suede
Pairing: Poland/Estonia
Rating: E for Everyone
Summary: Like, ohmygawd, shoe shopping. Written for Tikula.
“Oh my god, they’re too cute!”
Estonia smiled as he watched Poland twirl dramatically in front of the full-length mirror then stop to admire the shoes on his feet, all the while letting out an almost endless stream of enthusiastic squeals. Though it felt as if everyone in the shop was watching the two of them, somehow Estonia didn’t mind... much.
The source of Poland’s pleasure was a pair of ankle boots. Blue suede. High heels. Ridiculously expensive. Estonia tried not to think about it. He’d made a bet on some silly matter of no consequence and lost it, and in retaliation Poland had demanded a gift. When he thought back on it, Estonia really wondered what had ever possessed him to make such a deal in the first place. Well, it didn’t matter.
His thoughts were cut off when Poland latched onto him in a tight hug. “These ones!” Poland said, grinning widely. “These are totally the ones.”
Estonia laughed in spite of himself. “Are you sure?” he replied.
“Absolutely.”
“Then they’re yours.”
“Mmhm. ‘cause you promised.” Poland smirked and leaned in to mutter by his ear. “You are so getting kissed when we get home. I’m serious.”
Estonia blushed red as a pepper at that, and even after they had paid and left the store he remained flustered, knowing that Poland would follow through with his promise.

Title: The Short Summer
Pairing: Russia/Finland
Rating: 10+
Summary: Anticipating an attack from Russia, Finland waits - and remembers. Written for Minako.
Cold. Finland looked up, his breath fogging the air. Not long now, he thought. They’d be coming soon.
He licked his wind-chapped lips and waited. It wasn’t time for worry or nervousness, nor fear neither. The hit would be soon and he had to be ready. Last night had been the time for all that, and other things, too.
Other things. Like remembering how it had once been. In fact, he thought, it was not that long ago, though somehow it felt as if it had happened a thousand years ago in some place far away. It had passed by him with scarce more than a blink. He had come along with transferred territory, a loss, ceded, and he found – what? A smiling face and warm words that welcomed him. Attention lavished on him, and resources too, and unexpected affection accompanying that. There was something else too. It was something he couldn’t quite place, a feeling Finland couldn’t describe.
Whatever it was, it hadn’t lasted. Few things did, but damn it, those good times seemed too brief, the years of happiness too short. In so little time everything went wrong. Well, Finland thought as he drew in a deep breath of cold air. Wouldn’t do him any good to think about Russia, as there he was in the cold waiting for him. Though the air was crisp and cool and fresh it seemed to Finland that it smelled wrong, somehow. The ache deep in his gut just wouldn’t go away.
He didn’t understand it.
It didn’t matter.
It was over.
All of it.

Pairing Sweden/Norway
Rating 13+
Summary Norway contemplates his relationship with Sweden. Written for Ellie.
Norway thought he was strange, that one. Chilly in a way, but not cold, not really, just strange. Awkward. Not good with voicing his thoughts, always going around silent.
That suited Norway fine. He didn’t mind. No need to constantly run the mouth; he saw no point in chatter and idleness. No, he knew that when Sweden did speak he put care into his words, wanting to ensure that it was right. It was good.
So when they walked together in the night he didn’t mind that neither of them said anything. Instead he smiled at the sensation of cool air on their cheeks and the chill of the falling snow that dusted their shoulders and caught in their hair.
Large fingers brushed his bare hand. Norway returned the gesture and as a rough thumb grazed his palm he shivered. Their fingers knitted and that said enough. They fit together perfectly, firm and gentle. He knew that when they returned to his home there would be a word or two, and touches, and kisses leaving them both breathless. They would go together like a key slipping into a lock and there was no doubt in Norway’s mind that in those moments he would come undone.
That would come later, movement and the sound of clothes slipping to the floor. For the time being the world was still and all was peacefully silent.

Date: 2009-11-05 01:44 pm (UTC)lol Estonia's more like an indulgent older brother shoe-shopping with his younger sister in that fic. Cute~ And contrasts so much with the Swe/Nor drabble.

Date: 2009-11-05 07:12 pm (UTC)I need to write more Pol/Est. Ee. And Swe/Nor too, but Pol/Est, they're just so cute and weird, I love writing them so much.

Date: 2009-11-05 10:27 pm (UTC)Yeah, I don't think Finland is the type to angst over past sorrows much either. Maybe some quiet, reflective moments once in a while, but I think he'll shrug them off and let bygones be bygones.
Sweden, on the other hand, probably occasionally recalls some of the stuff he has done way way back, and becomes even more taciturn and gloomy until someone snaps him out of it.
Cute and weird, yes, definitely. Idk, I can't really see them as a pairing (yet) but as pals, yeah.
Estonia probably helps Poland run an online boutique to sell of his unwanted clothes.no subject
Date: 2009-11-08 01:54 am (UTC)Anyway, these are wonderful! The first one is so cute. I've never come across Poland/Estonia before, it's certainly interesting. I see them more as friends than as a pairing though.
The one with Russia and Finland is so amazing, I really like how make Finland think of the time with Russia as happy. And the title compliments the the story really nice.
The SweNor one is just wow, I can't even begin to describe it. I especially like the two fist paragraphs, they're perfect. And the world needs more SweNor.
OH MY GOD WHY ARE YOU AWAKE
Date: 2009-11-08 02:01 am (UTC)I've written Pol/Est before, a Really Really Long thing actually, but that was a very long time ago. I think it could go either way, friends or pairing, really.
As for Fin/Rus, I quite like this pairing but there is not much out there, and usually I don't like the way it's written... I think maybe that is a problem with the way Russia is usually characterized, though. Usually things turn out all angst. But I think, there would have been some good times, that Finland would recall fondly.
Also. So glad you liked the Swe/Nor one <3 The world certainly needs more of that.
(If you're still awake now, ahhhh you should go to bed - it's so late where you are!)
Because I can't sleep?
Date: 2009-11-08 02:25 am (UTC)There really isn't enough SweNor out there, I really wish I was good enough to draw or write anything with them. I've been thing of making a post with SweNor related quotes and such though.
And it's not that late (03.22), considering it's saturday. Besides I'm not tired.
No excuses~
Date: 2009-11-08 02:53 am (UTC)(And you noticed that too, eh? On the one hand, it might be just because of how that part was translated. On the other hand, maybe it's hinting at something not-so-nice... I've always wondered about it)
And there really, really isn't enough out there, especially for fic. I've been thinking about it, trying to figure out why. Seems that the main factor is that it a lot of the people who like it are people who don't write. This is the same situation I see with Est/Fin. It's really to bad. ;p
And aahhhh well, 3:30 AM might not be too late for you, but it certainly seems very late for me, because I rarely stay up to that time. But at least it's the weekend. <3
Fine, I went to bed. Happy now?
Date: 2009-11-08 11:20 am (UTC)Est/Fin is so cute! Sadly I don't think I've ever read anything about them, except this one fic by you.
Well it is kind of late, but I usually don't go to bed any earlier in the weekends, even though I really should D:
