Firstly, excuse me while I geek out: 13th century shipwreck sheds new light on medieval trade in Finland. Normally I'm more interested in the British Isles when it comes to medieval stuff, but man, this is pretty damn cool.
Anyway, today is going to be busy again, and I don't really know how much I'll actually be around. Sigh. Well, no matter - things do need to get done, after all. On the upside, I woke up this morning to find that someone (two someones, actually) like the way I roleplay, so that put me into quite a good mood.
The sky is dark and grey. Looks like rain. It rained a huge chunk of yesterday, too. Argh. I love rain, don't mistake, but I love to have my sunshine while it's still there. Probably going to go get my hair chopped today. I've been letting it grow, and now I look like a shaggy hippy. Not cool, man. On the one hand, it's kind of nice to be able to put it up, but on the other I feel really weird having it so long. Geh. Want to get it off my neck.
I'm probably going to spend a good amount of time out of the house today. I need the fresh air, I want to be around people, and there are various things I need to do - writing, drafting, editing of various kinds - that I do better when I'm in public, because I don't have personal things to distract me. I have such a difficult time getting anything done when I'm at home because I'm constantly distracted by cleaning and so on. Argh.
I checked my savings account and found that I have quite a bit in there. Nearly enough for a trip. I had originally planned to save it for a trip to the States, or to bring up someone from the States, but those plans have changed. Now I have this. It makes me very happy - there's quite a chunk of change in there. I figure, by summer of next year, I'll probably have enough saved up to go somewhere in Europe - as long as an emergency doesn't happen, of course. I'm still not sure where precisely I want to go, because there are so many awesome people that I want to meet and places that I want to see. Ireland, Scotland and England are high up on my list, but also Poland, Sweden and Finland. France would be nice too... I guess it'll all come down to who will not be busy around the time I decide to go, and who will not mind letting me sleep on their sofa.
I received a package notice in the mail today. Odd, since I was home all day - you'd think I would have heard them knocking on the door. I have no idea who it might be from; I wasn't expecting any more packages. Hmm! It's a mystery~
[edit 3:44 PM]ARGH. I went to the post office, but my package will not be available for pickup until Monday. Wtf, Canada Post. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
Unrelated; note to self: GOOD LORD. Never slack so much on updating the Baltic Index ever again. It's such a chore if you don't keep on top of it! *facedesk*

Date: 2009-08-07 07:46 pm (UTC)If you get the chance to go to Europe I would really recommend Berlin, an amazing and interesting city. In fact, I would like to move there some day.
Something in this entry reminds me of German, don't know why
Ugh, long hair is a pain, I wonder how people avoid getting mad from it?

Date: 2009-08-08 10:19 am (UTC)I like the thought of going to Berlin - or Germany in general - as it seems a pretty cool place. I will probably end up going to a location where I know people, though (don't have many friends in Germany...). I have never travelled internationally, and the thought of being alone in an unfamiliar country where I don't even speak the language makes me very nervous.

Date: 2009-08-08 09:28 am (UTC)If all goes as it has been, no emergency shall happen, do so I'll be good. ♥ I've been saving up for quite a while now, which is why I have nearly enough. I'm so excited! Still have no idea where I will go, but that can wait. Depends on friends, really. I wouldn't want to go to some place and be alone, naturally.

Date: 2009-08-07 11:10 pm (UTC)It won't be until next summer, or possibly even next autumn - not just because of money, but because I will be graduating at the end of the summer - but even so, I'm excited already!

Date: 2009-08-08 03:49 pm (UTC)AND CONVENIENTLY ENOUGH. I think I'm going InterRailing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterRail) next summer (is that even a word??). 8D No idea what countries I'll visit yet, lol. BUT WE'LL SEE. Right now I'm thinking Germany. |D SO IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER WHERE YOU GO RLY, AS LONG AS YOU'RE IN EUROPE. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Date: 2009-08-08 07:54 pm (UTC)And... that so. WELL THEN. I WILL KEEP THIS IN MIND. 8D (Yes, it warrants capslock)

Date: 2009-08-07 11:14 pm (UTC)I may get to do the same thing! I have no money saved up, but we have enough airline miles to get me to London and they expire January of next year, so I've got to either spend them on that or let them go to waste! If you ever add Deutschland to that list, my gf recommends Nürnberg. She went for a few weeks and said it was amazing. I'm looking to crash in England, Sweden, Finland, and Norway, myself. Good luck to you!

Date: 2009-08-08 09:20 am (UTC)Good luck arranging that trip. Sounds brill.
I've considered Germany - always wanted to go there - but I don't really know many people there. To be honest, the thought of going to some place by myself makes me nervous, you know?
