Things will be fine~

EEEEEE!
My copy of the Kalevala came in, ahhhh~ *flail* I can't wait to sink my teeth into it! I have some other things I want to read first, but that stuff is poetry so it will certainly get me in the mood.
I feel kind of bad, because I still have not re-acquired The Iliad and The Odyssey. For those who don't know, I had to give many of my books away when I moved across the country. Sigh. Oh, well. One epic at a time! And at least Homer's works are relatively easy to find in used book stores (unlike this. I can't find it anywhere - had to go to Amazon to get it, sigh). I'll get around to that eventually.
Ahhh, wonderful poetry of awesomeness featuring characters with unpronounceable names~ This exactly my kind of thing. Yes.
Anyway. Today looks like rain, again. It has been looking like rain for the past few days, and it did rain a little a couple of times, in the evening. I'm not really complaining, because it means that things are not too hot. But at the same time, it's nice to have things bright and sunny out. Sigh! Well, I guess I'll live.
Today I'm going to try to do the various things I meant to do yesterday, but wasn't able to do. Argh. But anyway - this is all for now. My day has just barely started, but at the moment I think it will be okay.

Date: 2009-08-04 09:14 pm (UTC)Dude. That sounds AWESOME! Okay you're forgiven. 8D
(I don't really judge people for not reading epics, considering there is so much literature in the world and it's impossible to read everything. And like, nowadays, in Canada and so on - many schools no longer teach stuff like The Iliad or The Odyssey or Beowulf so...yeah, I don't expect people to read everything. But I do tend to nudge people in that direction because I think it is awesome.)

I'd hope so. It'd be a little awkward to have a wall come visit you.

Date: 2009-08-04 09:37 pm (UTC)And I've wanted to read the Kalevala since my super-smart and kind of scary friend told me about it.
But, but, rain is so NICE!

Date: 2009-08-04 10:40 pm (UTC)I admit, I don't know much about what it is about - I tend to not read up on these things, because I prefer to begin reading literature without any previous impressions. The first time I heard about it, I was watching a documentary about the way the poetry was collected from the oral versions etc, and it did not discuss the content very much. So it was up on my list of epics to read, and I've partly been so eager to read it because it is much different from most of the other epics I have read (Greek and Roman stuff).
As for rain - it is nice, there is no doubt about that! But since so much of the year is cold, I like to have my sunshine while it is around. ;)

Date: 2009-08-05 12:17 pm (UTC)Well, I just heard the words, "Finnish epic" and "it's good" but that was enough to want to make me read it, but to be honest I haven't read much epics at all.
Uhm, yes, sunshine, I've kind of given that up, better just enjoy the rain.

Date: 2009-08-05 02:29 pm (UTC)GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! Hey, what if it's one of those magical books!? The ones you can't stop reading? :O

Date: 2009-08-05 02:31 pm (UTC)D: A book you can't stop reading -- well, surely something of that sort would look more impressive than this innocent and unassuming paperback! (Or at least I would hope so. Fff.)

Date: 2009-08-05 02:35 pm (UTC).......when I'm home alone, granma calls me like, five times a day. And if I don't pick up THEN I MUST BE DEAD D: Nono I can't be sleeping, it's already 9PM!!!

Or make someone else read it for you! You should be safe then :3
You again! <3
Date: 2009-08-06 07:28 pm (UTC)I've heard that it is quite lovely, yes. I started reading it, and I'm not very far in yet, but so far, ohh man it's just so beautiful. (Probably even more in the original language, though.)
I promise I won't die! ♥ Pretty literature hasn't killed me yet, and I'm sure it won't happen ever. ;)
