Another day

Still sick. At this point I am very unimpressed. WHAT THE FUCK IS UP, IMMUNE SYSTEM. Crap goddamnit sonovabitch.
Today my parents thought it would be a great idea to take me out for a long walk, even though I was congested and exhausted. Lovely. I repeat: Not impressed.
Furthermore, my laptop is acting very strangely. The battery seems to have failed, or something. The computer doesn't recognize it, and if I unplug the computer then the computer turns off, and when I turn the computer on it says it can't find the battery. Wonderful. So now, my laptop is for all intents and purposes a desktop. HOWEVER it's nowhere near as bad as that time the keyboard didn't work and I had to use a desktop keyboard attached to my laptop in order to use it. :| That was complete ridiculousness.
So anyway, I guess when I get back home I'll have to phone Dell and see what's what. Argh. I hate doing that, but at least I have a plan... thing. Maybe the battery is just... crapped out? Does that happen? I have no idea. I could buy a new one, but it would be expensive... well, I guess I'll just have to see. Surely if it's broken they'll send me a new one, because it's still under warranty.
Anyway, aside from that, today has been mostly okay. I finished a fic, and that makes me really happy because I haven't finished anything in about a month. I've been in a total writing slump, completely unsatisfied with everything I do, unable to get any farther with the Union fic and very frustrated with the various smaller things that I've stopped and started and stopped again. Argh. But now that I finished this, I think I'll be able to go ahead and finish some other short things as well, and then start work on the Union fic again. We'll see. I'm hopeful!
Tomorrow, I had planned to go downtown to hang around and snoop around the mall and then go to Coco Jo's to write. But I don't think I'll be able to do that... mum keeps going on about how she wants to drag me to various places, and then this evening she says that she wants me to help her make pies tomorrow. *facedesk* Argh. Well, perhaps Tuesday then. The dragging-around, I'm not too thrilled about that, but I do want to make pie. The recipe makes two, so we're going to do one apple and one rhubarb, and she's going to teach me how to make the pastry. That should be nice.
[edit] Since I uploaded this for a friend, I thought I'd share it: three songs by the ambient music artist Sephiroth. Those who have listened to my Est/Fin fanmix will already be familiar with one of his songs, "Wolftribes". Man, I really like his work; I wish it wasn't so hard to come by....

Date: 2009-07-13 08:14 am (UTC)Batteries can die. They don't last forever, even rechargeables. My mom's laptop battery just died. Though, if your computer isn't recognizing the battery -at all-, it might be your computer? Hard to say from here.
Pies are nice~

Date: 2009-07-13 04:50 pm (UTC)It's true, batteries can die, but goddamn I've only had this computer for a year (almost on the dot). Anyway, yeah, it doesn't recognize it at all - the error I receive says something like 'No battery detected'. Ah, lovely. *makes a face* Well, I guess I'll just have to see what the Dell guys say. Sigh.
PIES ARE EXCELLENT. At the moment I don't know how to make real ones, only lemon meringue and such, so this will be interesting.

Date: 2009-07-13 10:00 pm (UTC)I tried not to say this the first time around, but as someone below said..... your problem is you got a Dell. *pats* If you haven't already, you might try a bit of googling based on your model and error to see if there's a generic problem lots of people have had. After that, well~~ hopefully the Dell people actually know something!
I WOULDN'T GO SO FAR AS TO SAY THEY ARE EXCELLENT. I am more partial to cake. Unless the pie is Oreo. Except then if the cake is Oreo I'm not sure which way to go. Hmmm... Right, anyway, that wasn't the point. HAVE FUN BAKING!! ♥♥

Date: 2009-07-13 11:49 pm (UTC)Ja, ja, I know, Dell - but IT'S NOT MY FAULT OKAY. The 'rents bought it for me. Mmph. And yeah, I'll probably do that when I have a moment. Sigh. I hate computer errors, hate hate hate.
To be honest, I think I like cake better than pie too, but it's nice to have something different once in a while. Mmmmm.
