Mostly nonsense

So, my coffee grinder is busted all to hell. It spews grounds all over the counter and won't do a decent grind for shit. Lovely. Well, I'm heading over to Canadian Tire in a couple days to pick up some things, might as well see if I can get one there while I'm out. No biggie, as basic ones aren't expensive, but it's like... jesus christ, just another thing I have to do, you know? But I really can't handre being without some coffee, so. There we go.
Mm. Slept in far too long today. Woke up at 9:30, thought "just half an hour longer", then ended up sleeping until 3 PM. Brilliant. Oh, well. I went out for my run after supper so I'm feeling refreshed now, at least. Now I'm at the Roastery, enjoying a delicious Italian cream soda. It's going to be a lazy day (and evening). Have some internet-y things I need to do, so I guess I'll do that tonight. Updating the Index, typing up things. The usual. I've been worshipping at the altar of slackness recently.
Tomorrow is Canada Day. Hmm. There's probably some sort of celebration going on, all things considered. I should probably look that up when I have a moment. This'll be my first Canada Day alone... it's kind of a strange feeling. I mean, July 1st is (was) my grandmother's birthday, so the entire family would get together in Drumheller to celebrate that. In the morning we'd all go down to the street where the parade was held 'n watch it, and all the kids (including myself) would catch the candy being tossed from the floats. When that was over, we'd go back home for a lazy day at home, with soda and scotch mints. Me 'n my bro 'n my cousins would sit out on the verandah and count our candy and trade the ones we didn't want. When supper time came around we'd have Chinese food and birthday cake, and everyone would get a coin put under their cake piece for good luck. Then in the evening we'd all go out to watch fireworks.
I think I'll bake a cake, just for old time's sake. I have a mix somewhere in my cupboard, so it'll be quick and easy (I usually make my cakes from scratch). Might do something fancy with the frosting, but I'm not sure yet. Maple leaf would probably be difficult to draw... Then again, nobody but me will be seeing it anyway, and it's only two colours of frosting, not like that Iceland cake I tried to do. Hmmn. We'll see.
