Re: Hello!
Date: 2015-03-13 01:38 pm (UTC)Trying childrens media is a great idea... I keep thinking of doing that for Norwegian, but then I forget. Usually I watch films for adults, which are of course too difficult for me, but they're fun. Kids movies would be a good idea though....
I am trying to be better about liking Nordic/Scandinavian stuff and accept that I don't have to be descended from Danes, Norwegians, and so on to appreciate their culture.
Of course not. :D All of the people I've talked to from those areas think it's nice that people without any connection to the country would be interested. As for me, I don't have any relation to those places either, so you and I are both in the same boat.
Re: Hello!
Date: 2015-03-23 04:15 am (UTC)For me, I think the Netherlands is stunning due to his scarves and his hairstyle. There is something really neat about his appearance. I also think that Denmark usage of red is not that bad although he should probably tone down on the hair gel...
I like Sweden's outfit for many reasons and generally how well kept Sweden seem to be. And Norway's sailor outfit is pretty cool although I don't know if it is a specific uniform or Himaruya just chose to put Norway in a sailor suit. Honestly many outfits of most Hetalia characters are fitting in some way.
Re: Hello!
Date: 2015-03-23 04:30 am (UTC)What I want to see: Sweden drawn in Carolean-era uniform. Whoa, hot. And Norway in traditional clothing... or 18th-century uniform *_*
Norway's sailor outfit seems to actually be a specific uniform. I've come across reference illustrations for Norwegian naval seamen uniforms, and they're very similar to the volume 6 version of his uniform, though there are a few small embellishments and the cap is different.
Unfortunately though, I haven't come across good photo references. I've looked, but I didn't really have much luck. I'd probably have better results if I searched in Norwegian.
Anyway, I do have a few references on this page here, including the illustration I mentioned. The uniform section is near the bottom of the page.
Re: Hello!
Date: 2015-03-23 06:12 am (UTC)I do find the Netherlands, Turkey, Hungary and Denmark very hot...
Anyway, I think Iceland's outfits are nice to look at and I always end up trying to emulate his style in some way.
Yes, this discussion ended up into Hetalia characters that I found attractive... I am not good at trying to hide that. Although I think the first paragraph do hold true since I think I ended up like scarves (Netherlands), the color green (many characters) and so on.
I caught up with the latest Hetalia web comic scanlations and I think I am starting to have a better grasp on Luxembourg's character. I was kind of scared that he would just only show up in the Halloween strip and never get mentioned again. It is hilarious how in the relationship charts Netherlands tells Luxembourg not to follow his example.
I also found some q&a where Himaruya said that Denmark gets along with Germany very well. Although I think it is not surprising since I saw that strip where Denmark wanted to build a bridge to bring him and Germany closer distance wise...
I was able to figure out why I like the Netherlands as a character. I probably will make a post on how I come to this conclusion soon.
I talk too much but thankfully DW is open minded about character limits.

Date: 2015-03-24 02:40 am (UTC)I saw that mention of Denmark and Germany too. It was pretty much telling us stuff that we already know - Denmark trying to be buddies with him is also in one of the drama cds too - but I guess it's nice to have it re-emphasized.
