Long entry is long. Babbling ahoy!

When I turned on the tap in the kitchen this morning, nothing came out. I do hope that this is because they were working on the boiler in the basement and had to turn the water off again, otherwise it might mean there is a Very Big Problem going down. To be honest, I'm a little worried. Good gods, I hope it is because they turned off the water. [EDIT 2:18 PM: When I got home, everything worked correctly. The pipes were not frozen, thank the gods.]
Okay. So. Yesterday was kind of... ehhh. Very cold, as y'all noticed from my last entry. Well, I did indeed skip intro lecture, but had to get up soon afterward so that I could go do something related to my Oral Lit class. 'twas a showing of a filmed performance of Bloodclaat, which we'll be studying next week (I think?). It was awesome. I look forward to reading it.
Not much happened yesterday evening. I marked in my office for several hours, until it was 'round time to go home. Mostly the papers aren't as bad as the ones from the last batch, but there was one that made my eye twitch. As I said to
jesusphreaq, "I wanted to go all marxist-feminist on this person's ass, but decided to refrain". Hah. She said she might put that bit of dialogue in her journal, but I said that no, I'd do it, 'cause my journal entries tend to be all "fuck this" and "fuck that", so it'd be more suiting.
Anyway.
Went home late, and after a meagre supper spent the evening at the Roastery. It was busy, but not too busy. Thank the gods. I managed to get a good amount of reading done. However, for about an hour I was somewhat distracted. At the table next to me were two young men, probably students, having a philosophical debate. One of them was very, very handsome and it was quite difficult to keep myself from looking at him. Ah. Tall and well-dressed, wearing a light-coloured cotton shirt, black pants and black dress shoes (I have a thing for men who wear dress shoes. Screw sneakers). A charcoal-grey wool coat was draped over his shoulders. His hair was black and very soft-looking, neither too short nor too long, cut to just below the jaw-line. He wore black-framed glasses; not the thick-framed kind that is trendy, but the sort that gives a subtly intellectual look. His skin was a naturally dark colour and he had an intelligent, scholarly-looking face with smiling, upturned lips and an elegant, refined nose. His eyes were dark, with thick lashes. And ah, his voice~ it was deep, rich and warm.
Er. Yes. *cough* Anyway, as I was saying, he was so handsome that for the entire time he sat there having a philosophical debate with his friend about human rights and human nature, I was quite distracted, and had to force myself to stay still so that I would not turn my head to look at him too much. I tried to satisfy myself by staring at his reflection in the window instead. Tsk. Bloody good-looking men and their ability to distract me! Or damn me, and my tendency to be distracted.
While we were waiting for the screening of Bloodclaat to begin, I pulled out my fic notebook to work on things. Upon seeing it,
jesusphreaq remarked that I'm very dedicated to fanfiction. xD I hadn't noticed before, but I suppose I am.
Part of it, at least recently, is because I really need to finish this Big Long Fic because it is so overdue. I should never had said "Oh, I'll try to have it finished by such-and-such date". That was definitely a mistake. Note to self: Never do it again, because if you don't finish it, you'll feel bad! Oyyyy.
The thing with the Big Long Fic is that it's certainly living up to its name. It's at eight pages now and I still have about four scenes to write. Reminder: part one of this fic was eight pages in total. So the sequel is certainly going to prove to be much longer. *facepalm* Oh dear. It seems kind of crazy to be writing something this long for a kink meme fill! Ah, well. Sometimes these things just get away from me.
*gnaws fingernails* I just hope that the OP and the people who read the First Part will like it. It seems to me that the writing quality in the sequel thus far isn't quite as high as it was in the first part. However, this might just be me being paranoid. Anyway, I can try to fix that when I type it up and do the editing. I just... well, I worry about these things, as I worry about all things. This one also seems a little dialogue-heavy, so I'll have to remember to try and streamline that. It might help to cut down on the length a little as well.
I haven't done any further work on my second Poetry fill (which will involve the use of several different Gregory Scofield poems), but that's all right. It'll be short. I need the book in-hand to do that one anyway, so it isn't something that I can just work on when I'm riding the bus, you know?
And then I wrote a third thing yesterday, very short, for an entirely different fill. I... don't know how I feel about this one, to be honest. I'm not sure if I'll post it. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, two other people have said they would fill the prompt in question, and I kind of want to wait to see what sort of thing they will write. Secondly, the style I used is my poetic-prose style. While several people like that, I am not sure how I feel about it. It seems that every fic I write using this style is the same thing over and over and over. I'm not pleased with that. However, I might just be in that sort of mood about it right now. Thirdly, it will take much streamlining and several drafts until I am satisfied with it, and even then I doubt I shall be satisfied with it, so - ah... well... That's it, I suppose.
So, that is the State of the Fic, as far as what I am currently writing. Normally I don't work on several things at once! I do one at a time. However, these things just kind of snuck up on me. I think it might be because Big Long Fic is big and long. I suppose for a short while I was getting a little tired of Estonia and wanted to work on something else.
Aside from that, I have some ideas floating around, but I'm going to have to shove them down to the bottom of the pile until I get everything else finished and posted. I was recently looking up some stuff about the history of Newfoundland, and now I find myself wanting to write some Norway/Canada/Norway. Sigh. Why do I always end up writing the weirdest fucking pairings ever?! Oh, well. If I do pursue that idea, I'll have to look up some stuff about Norway, I s'pose. 'cause I mean, I know zilch about that country. When I think of Norway, there are three things that come to mind:
1. Henrik Ibsen
2. Black metal
3. VIKINGS.
... Not terribly useful.
(Er, well, in one context those impressions will be useful. I have some ideas for a fill I'll eventually do for one of those high school AU prompts. Norway is going to be a metalhead who writes plays and is secretly a crazy ass, though you'd never guess it because he's normally so stoic. :| Yes. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. )
